Summary:

Everyone is just trying to find their place after the war. Harry and his friends are no exception. Our favorite trio returns to Hogwarts for their 8th year. Ron still wants to be an Auror, Hermione has decided to pursue healing, and Harry... Well, Harry doesn't know what he wants to do.
He shocked all of his friends when he announced he was going to testify in the Malfoys’ trial, and even more so when he privately studied complex magic in his free time. So why is everyone surprised that he keeps hanging out with these ornery snakes? And why is he surprised when he finds himself unable to stop thinking about Draco sodding Malfoy? Can't everyone see that he's just trying to find his place in the world? A world where he doesn't *have* to be the hero. A world where he gets to decide when to come running to the rescue.

Or, Two huge snakes roam the castle and Harry has an identity crisis.

    Summary

    Draco didn’t even think. He raised his mother’s wand, directed it at his father, and with more conviction than he had ever felt in his entire life he uttered the two words that would keep his father from taking this moment away from him. A burst of green light struck Lucius Malfoy right between his shoulder blades and he fell forward onto the rubble strewn floor. The hall fell into silence again as Draco stared into two brilliant green eyes that wore a look of utmost disbelief.

    Six years later Draco Malfoy stands staring at Harry Potter across their shared sitting room with his arms crossed. "Don't thank me Potter, I'd have never found a job if I let my father kill you. Let's just get through this year without killing each other."

    "This year? Are you planning an early retirement? Or do you frequently only stay at a job for one year?" Potter said with an eyebrow raised.

    "This is going to be a very long year." Neville said from the settee between them.
