    Nearly

Sirius doesn't go after Peter Pettigrew on the night that Voldemort kills the Potters, but stays to look after Harry... This means that he is never wrongly accused and incarcerated for the murder of Lily and James, and instead he and Remus Lupin raise Harry as their own.

When it finally becomes time for Harry to start his education at Hogwarts, he has no reason to tell the Sorting Hat not to place him in Slytherin, so he is Sorted into Slytherin and becomes best friends (and later on, more than friends) with Draco.

Fighting the Death Eaters in the Department of Mysteries, Harry loses Draco and is running through the Time Room when he stumbles through the door to the adjoining Space Room; for a moment he’s suspended in mid-air in the doorway between the two rooms… His vision goes black and just before he loses consciousness, one thought reverberates through him: ”Draco”

Meanwhile, in the Canon Universe, Harry has just been possessed by Voldemort in the Ministry for Magic and Dumbledore has pressed a Portkey into his hand, saying he’ll see him in half an hour… Now, Canon!Harry is sent through time and space, except… He doesn’t end up in Dumbledore’s office… // Nearly!Harry does, but he’s unconscious and that’s how Dumbledore finds him half an hour later and brings him straight to the Hospital Wing //

(This fic is about Canon!Harry in the ”Nearly” Universe)

    WHAT'S HAPPENED SO FAR:

    Draco:
While Harry fought the Death Eater and then threw himself through the ”Bridge” (the doorway between the Time Room and the Space Room), Lucius grabbed Draco and Disapparated to get him (and himself) out of harms way, before Voldemort showed up.

    Canon!Harry:
Has just lost Sirius, been possessed by Voldemort and sent back to Hogwarts with a Portkey and a promise from Dumbledore that he’ll join him in half an hour, he travels through time and space…

…and ends up back inside the Department of Mysteries instead of Dumbledore’s office.
