light Anthology

Summary:

Anakin Skywalker is a Jedi and being a part of their Order means that he is protected and accepted.

The war is over and the Republic has to recover from the crimes of the Sith Lord, the Jedi have to figure out what it means to be peacekeepers again and the Clones have to learn how to be more than expendable soldiers.

Or: The self-indulgent fix-it in which Mace politely tells Chancellor Palpatine to fuck off when the man wants access to a child of the Order, 14 years of Sith grooming are avoided, and when the war ends, the Jedi and the Clones have adopted each other and are rather unwilling to let go.

Anthology containing:

may these words be the first

“You already have two Skywalkers more running around!” Ahsoka shouted and evaded Anakin’s grip. “Let me have this!”
“Luke and Leia both have Padmé’s last name,” Anakin argued and then, in a tone more befitting of a youngling, added, “And Rex was my Captain first!”
Ahsoka huffed and jumped over Anakin’s head in one of those flashy moves that had the younglings cheering.
“But he likes me way better!”
“Liar!”

Or: The war is over and Captain Rex, CT-7567 of the 501st, needs a last name. Ahsoka and Anakin have Opinions about whose name he should carry.

everything I know

It was tradition for Initiates to challenge a Knight or a Master to debate them to pass their Introduction to Diplomacy I course. Anakin didn't mind it, but he’d prefer it if all these kids would stop running up to Obi-Wan when he’s practicing ‘sabers with his Master.

there's a place

“There is a ship here that will take us back to Coruscant,” Ki-Adi-Mundi said. “I have to run another errand before that though. If you want, I can take you to the ship first and you can wait there for me.”

Ki-Adi-Mundi was sent to Tatooine to bring back Sharad Hett. Instead, he brings back his son and, following the pleas of a tired recently knighted Obi-Wan Kenobi, frees Shmi Skywalker.

some things are simple

While Ki-Adi-Mundi is talking to the Council, A’Sharad Hett searches for little Anakin Skywalker to tell him about his mother’s newfound freedom.

a superhero learns to fly

Every Jedi lineage has its own dance and Ahsoka, for one, is excited when Anakin finally begins teaching her theirs.
However, before they can get really started, they run into a slight problem.

Or: That time Ahsoka learned Dooku is her great-great-grandmaster.

if we make it or we don't, we won't be alone

The war is over and the Jedi finally return home to Coruscant, but that is only the first step of many. Too many Knights are dead and too many children need training, but at least they are all home now. Now they just had to figure out what peace meant.

Or, in the aftermath of the war, a Padawan tries to cope with the loss of her Master and the Padawan she acquired.

shining like a lighthouse from the sea

Rumor has it, if you clean up one of the droids in the temple the day before your Gathering, Anakin Skywalker himself will take you to Ilum.

Or: Anakin loses his lightsabers and is absolutely popular with teeny tiny Initiates.

Anakin Skywalker's Guide to Jedi Traditions

Unknown to many, Jedi celebrate a lot of holidays and their list of traditions is sheer endless. To keep track of them all, Padawan Anakin Skywalker writes a guide.

Or: Jedi traditions narrated through journal entries of an amazed child with sidenotes from his Master.

so show me family

“Master Koon, you are late,” Oppo Rancisis said, though the amusement in his voice was apparent.
“The Force guided me elsewhere,” Plo answered and crossed the last few steps to his chair. Once there, he sat down while Ahsoka stood in front of him still, her arms crossed and frowning as if she were thinking.
“You can sit on my lap if you want, Ahsoka,” Plo told her but the three-year-old only shook her head.

Or: Five times the Jedi Council has to deal with younglings and one time the younglings of the Order have to deal with the Council.

settle down

Home is where you have a warm bed and a warm meal. Naturally, it follows that as the Grandmaster of the Jedi Order, Yoda likes to cook for the many people in his care.

Or: Five times Yoda cooks for somebody and one time someone cooks for him.

roll down this unfamiliar road

Anakin didn’t understand Jedi stories and Obi-Wan didn’t know any tales told on Tatooine. They met somewhere in the middle.

Or: Miscommunication averted.

when the world is on your side

Obi-Wan Kenobi, the Sith slayer himself, was a part of their lineage? Kath’resi couldn’t wait to tell his friends about it.

Feemor and his Padawan meet Obi-Wan Kenobi and his Padawan.

Or: Adopting your tiny lineage cousin 101.

to guide each sprouting bean

“Look!” Anakin shouted and pushed the plant with the soft blue flowers into Obi-Wan’s face. “It’s blooming! Master Qui-Gon’s notes said it only does that once every twelve years!”

Or: Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi and Padawan Anakin Skywalker move into their new apartment and as Anakin decides to keep the greenery Qui-Gon Jinn had accumulated over the years, Obi-Wan learns to heal.

do you promise me you'll stay

“Anakin,” Obi-Wan said. “What are you doing here?”

Or: Obi-Wan is overworking himself, Anakin and Ahsoka run an intervention.

trade sweet sleep for fears

“I should stop,” Obi-Wan muttered. “This is useless when I’m tired.”

Or, Obi-Wan is up late studying and his new Padawan sleeps next to him on their sofa.

I will soften every edge

It is tradition to prepare a meal from your homeworld and share it with your lineage to celebrate the diversity of the Order. Usually, this isn't a trouble for anybody, but that was before Anakin Skywalker and A'Sharad Hett joined the Jedi Order.

Or, Anakin, Obi-Wan, and A’Sharad go shopping for imports from Tatooine on the lower levels and Obi-Wan realizes a thing or two about grief and homecoming.

that nature is so

"Do you like it?" Obi-wan asked.

Ahsoka looked up at him in confusion. What was he talking about-

"The tea," he added and raised his own cup like a sign.

Or, Anakin is injured and Ahsoka spends some time with her Grandmaster.

shield you from the rain

“Did you want to have sex with the informant?” Obi-Wan asked carefully, tricking his tongue so it would not hiss curses.

“Eh, not really,” Anakin replied, but then shrugged. “But if it had helped the mission, I would have done it. It’s not different from racing a speeder or any other favor.”

Or, Obi-Wan learns during a mission that his Padawan has a very different perspective on sex and sets out to make sure nobody will take advantage of Anakin.

soon you’ll aim up at the sky and I’ll watch you float away

Anakin was by no means falling in any of his classes.

No, the issue was that Anakin wasn’t as good as he wanted to be and Obi-Wan did not have the time to read up on Check’chualik’s theory of ‘four-dimensional mathematics within a suspended room of an aircraft’.

Or, Obi-Wan doesn't do space math but his Padawan does.

and I told the world

“Padmé is pregnant, Anakin is the father,” Obi-Wan replied and held up his bottle of Serenno wine.

Or, Obi-Wan and the realization that Anakin is going to be a father at an age Obi-Wan wasn't even a Knight.

the weight of the world’s a little lighter

It took a Temple to raise a child, and Mace Windu was very much aware of this. However, it did not explain what Ahsoka Tano was doing at his door in the middle of the night.

Or, Ahsoka Tano returns home in steps.

i've been sleeping here instead

The war was over, or so they said over and over again in the news, in their haphazardly thrown together lessons, in the Senate, in the streets, down in the lower levels.

Codi didn’t feel like it was over, didn’t dare to call this peace.

Or, a Padawan struggles with the aftermath of the war.

    Summary

"The Dai Bendu language was spoken by the members of the ancient Order of Dai Bendu on the frozen planet of Ando Prime. The name of the Je'daii Order was forged in that language."

"Every language is like a one-of-a-kind species. It captures unique conceptualizations of the world and has its own ways of constructing words, phrases and sentences for communicating ideas. As we compare the words and structures of various languages, we come to a greater understanding of our world. (...) Language captures how we perceive the world around us and how we relate to one another, it defines who we are. The Mother tongue language we grow up with is the one used to express what is in our hearts; our heart language."

"Studying language is invaluable for learning about other cultures and mapping their respective developments, histories, myths, customs, etc. Linguistics also helps us understand and document geographical /environmental influences, periods of migration/diaspora, origin of certain spiritual beliefs, etc. through the study of things like cognates, shared myths between cultures, language families, and tracking differences in word usage and dialects over a long period of time."

Retranslation of the Sith Code from a Linguistic Perspective by loosingletters

While Mando’a is undoubtedly the conlang with the most extensive vocabulary, it is not the soundest Star Wars conlang from a linguistic perspective. That honor belongs to the version of the Sith conlang that was later amended and developed by Ben Grossblatt. The Sith Code, as we know it, was developed by David Gaider in 2003 for the game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Grossblatt’s conlang was created seven years later in 2010.

When you consider this, Grossblatt had two options when creating his conlang and translation of the Code. He could translate the Code from English into Sith, or he could pretend the English (or “Basic”) version of the Code resulted from a translation from Sith.

TLDR: I took a look at the English version of the Sith Code and decided it doesn't quite pick up all the nuances the text has in the Sith conlang and proceeded to write 3.000 words analyzing it.

  3. Summary

Percy Jackson arrives at Camp Half-Blood bruised and bleeding, with the knowledge that he's the son of a god and his mother is dead. His little display with the Minotaur has caught the attention of the camp. But he’s not sure it is good attention, yet.

Only the Hermes Cabin's not-quite Co-counselor Theseus, ‘call me Theo,’ doesn't treat him like a fascinating zoo exhibit. Which would be a relief, except he looks exactly like Percy: same green eyes, same trouble making smile, same black hair. The only differences are the fact that Theo is six years older, covered in battle scars, and the black tattoo on his arm. A trident and the letters SPQR.

Theo is eighteen, powerful, and unclaimed. And his resemblance to Percy could set a dangerous precedent.

    Yes, even Damian.
