What Ever Happened to Initiate Kenobi?

Summary:

It was then that Obi-Wan made a decision that would radically change the course of his life: he didn’t want to go back to the AgriCorps.

Clat’Ha stared at him for a long moment and then sighed, shaking her head. “So you’re going to pick either a Mandalorian or a pirate as your guardian?”

---

In which Obi-Wan is saved from the Bandomeer mines by a swaggering band of Weequay pirates and Mandalorian mercenaries. His last chance at Knighthood gone, and trying to avoid a life in the AgriCorps, Obi-Wan Kenobi makes another choice.

Too bad he didn't have all of the facts, first...

    Summary

Cody didn’t know if he wanted to cry, to fall to his knees and sob, begging for forgiveness, or if he wanted to scream, or if he wanted to rush over and hug him.

After all this time, they’d found him. It was him, he was real, he was here, standing just a few meters in front of Cody.

“You… You overthrew the Empire,” Obi-Wan said. “You restored the Republic?”

Ah. Cody had not been looking forward to getting to this point. But he refused to lie to Obi-Wan, knew that it would be better if he was upfront about this, better if he told the truth now than be caught in a lie later.

“No,” Cody said, and Obi-Wan tensed. “The galaxy was a mess, and the Republic had been so corrupt by the end that it had willingly helped the Sith form his Empire. We weren’t about to let things go on as they had been before the Empire. And besides that… When word got out that I was the one to kill the Emperor… The Imperial Senate and the public alike seemed to decide that that made me… his successor.”

  2. Summary

Obi-Wan couldn’t remember a time when he hadn’t had his Ba’ji. He could vaguely remember how he used to only see the man in his dreams, although now, he could hear him even when he was awake. He didn’t see him, as such, when he was awake, but he could feel him nearby, in the Force, and occasionally speaking up, though he spoke to Obi-Wan alone.

“You are a Jetii, Obi-Wan. You must cease speaking in the past tense,” Ba’ji sighed. “And you were a Jetii of the Order.”

And what other kind of Jedi is there? Obi-Wan sighed back, and he stopped pacing, suddenly freezing, as he finally understood what Ba’ji was trying to do. A Jetii’Manda. You want me to go with them.

“And now you see,” Ba’ji said.

    Summary

In one universe, Shaak Ti discovered the practices of decommissioning and reconditioning once she was posted on Kamino. In that universe, the Council did what they could. It still wasn’t enough.

In this universe, someone slipped up, and the words decommissioning and reconditioning made it into a report sent to GAR High Command. Obi-Wan Kenobi was the first to see it, the first to question it. He was the first to decide it had to end, and he petitioned the Senate for an official ban. Unsurprisingly, he was refused.

Obi-Wan found that utterly unacceptable. If no one else could or would do it, then he would do whatever it took to protect the clones. But as it turned out…

All the clones had needed was a little nudge, some support, and a high-ranking officer who would look the other way. Once they had that, it grew from a fight for their lives into a fight for their freedom. And if the clones weren’t going to be given their freedom…

They were going to take it.

(Alternately: Cody and Obi-Wan Kenobi make the slow descent from dutiful leading members of the GAR to spearheading a rebellion against the very thing they once supported.)

    Summary

The Council had had less than three full days’ notice that Initiate Kenobi had been demanded back by his parents before the date their “emmisaries” were going to arrive to claim him. Three days hadn’t been much, not nearly long enough, but they’d tried.

Three days went by—more than enough time to reach Stewjon from Coruscant, even with the hazards in the densely populated Deep Core... Yaddle started to feel a sense of disquiet, of unease.

    Something had gone wrong.

    -

Sure, keeping the Jetii’adiik really would be a bit dini’la, but… Well, Jango had always wanted to be the ori’vod, for once.

“You want to… adopt me,” Obi-Wan said slowly, blinking at Jaster.

    -

No, Ben thought, this hadn’t gone quite to plan, but looking at his new family (sweet Force), Ben was more than satisfied with the outcome.

    Summary

After dying on Korda 6, Jaster Mereel wakes up again. In Hel, of course, because there wouldn't be demagolkase hunting ad'e in the Manda. But Hel or not, it doesn't matter—Jaster will do whatever he has to do to protect the Young on Melida/Daan.

Only, things aren't quite as they seem, here…

    —

Dying hurt both more and less than Jaster had expected.

Something—the Manda, maybe—whispered that things weren’t as they seemed, but Jaster decided that didn’t matter. Whether this was some sort of Hel or something else entirely, there were ad’e in danger. His duty and his purpose were clear.

Jaster had a job to do, and he wouldn’t stop until he’d seen it done.

    —

Jaster had been prepared to accept that this was some strange sort of afterlife. He’d been prepared to accept that, after death, he’d been reincarnated, in a sense, into another life. He’d been prepared to accept any number of strange possibilities, but this was…

Well, according to the terminal, he was seven years in the future from where he’d just been before this, on Korda 6.

According to the date on the terminal, he was a karking time traveler.
