Summary
A series of stories following the Wayne family as they deal with illness, changes to the family, and growing up.
Four major longfics, and a whole lot of shorts. Shorts can be read out of order or skipped entirely.
(A no-smut series; rating is for some violence, gore, and language depending on story.)
Anthology containing:
Foreign Object
Bruce Wayne deals with a serious illness, one that threatens the most crucial part of himself. He and the family try to cope with their own fears and expectations about it and then the aftermath. This is written partly as character study, partly as family drama. Originally posted to tumblr.
Developmental Milestones
A/N: This is a sequel to Foreign Object. You don't have to start there, I suppose, but it might help.
Dr. Kiran Devabhaktuni is a neurosurgeon. He's the neurosurgeon that cut a tumor out of Bruce Wayne's skull.
And at first, Dev was just coming around for tea with Alfred. But somehow he's now working as the doctor for the Wayne Family.
And the Wayne family? Also the Batman Family.
Kiran Devabhaktuni is a curious man. He's probably a stupid man. He probably should regret what his life has turned into. But honestly? He really doesn't.
Out Here Hope Remains
This story picks up a week after Zsasz kills Jason Todd, again. It overlaps with Developmental Milestones and fills in some gaps, as Jason recovers at the Kent Farm. A full year after Bruce Wayne's brain surgery, the family is just trying to catch a break and maybe find a way to heal a little bit. Because what point is there in saving Gotham if you don't have a family to save it for?
Familiar Ghosts
Two years after the end of Developmental Milestones, Gotham is starting to look like a brighter city. But old villains and old problems come back to haunt them and the Wayne family starts to wonder if anything can really change for good.
This story returns to the rotating perspective style of Foreign Object.
Tipping Point
Dev knows Clark Kent and he knows Superman.
But he doesn't know yet.
Until now, that is.
Half-Measure
Conner Kent needs some direction and so he goes to Bruce Wayne, because for some reason that sounded like a good idea.
CECverse but stands alone as a one-shot.
Happy Home Designer
Tim hangs out with Dev, talks about what he does at WE, and then has an emotional conversation with Bruce about doing things alone.
Oh, and he's sick.
Shiver
During Bruce's birthday party, there's a minor accident that makes Dick Grayson pause and take stock of himself, his relationship with Damian, and whether "okay" can be enough.
High Dive
This is a pool party piece written for Jason's birthday per multiple requests. It's a tangential fluff spin-off from Developmental Milestones.
It is REALLY silly.
Algernon, Patient Zero
A spin-off short to go with Developmental Milestones. Jason, Algernon the rat, and Dev. And maybe some tacos!
Jason's Not Dead Again
Companion piece to Developmental Milestones, covering the gap between chapters twenty and twenty-one from Bruce's perspective.
Painted Birds
This is pure fluff mini-fic filler for a holiday chapter of Developmental Milestones. Cassandra Cain and Jason Todd spend a couple minutes together on New Year's Eve after escaping the Wayne Manor Gala.
And Over Kansas the Whole Universe Was Stilled
Jason has a hard time with memories of being dead.
Partly because it took him a long time to even realize that's what they were.
Gear Shift
Damian is spending a summer day at the Kent Farm and gets caught in an argument. It's a little surprising.
What's more surprising is that it doesn't ruin the rest of the day.
Pigtails
From a tumblr flash fiction prompt.
Dev and Steph run an errand for Alfred that ends up involving an unexpected encounter with the past. Set after the end of Developmental Milestones and Out Here Hope Remains.
Rat Trap
Dick's petsitting goes awry and his plan to fix it goes even more awry than that.
They can probably keep it from Jason and Damian.
Probably.
Shout Before You Sing
It's not like he's been there for years, but honestly, Dev should know better than to startle a Wayne.
Full Dinner Jacket
Bruce just can't get an afternoon of work at home anymore. It's pointless to even try.
For She's a Jolly Good City
Jason's 21st birthday turns far more exciting than anyone intended when Dev takes him out for a promised, legal drink.
Bird by Bird
Damian Wayne finds an injured hawk and Dev offers to give him a ride.
It is, unfortunately, not a smooth trip.
Cocooned
Jason has a hard time dealing with books being destroyed.
Especially when it's his fault.
Dev and the Fae King
In which Tim needs a present for Conner and Dev has had undue influence on Kon's music preferences and is dragged into things.
Tumblr prompt flash fic.
Scientific Study
Bruce hasn't helped anyone with school projects for a while.
It still doesn't seem like they're getting much done.
But that kinda makes for a nice evening.
We Blow Things Up Like Men
Sometimes, things are necessary for scientific advance. Some other times, things are just an excuse to engineer explosions.
Tumblr prompt.
Dinobite
The problem with Dev going on a hike these days is that there is an 80% chance it will end in disaster, probably very far away, probably involving Bruce bleeding on something.
At least this time it was for science?
Overshadowed
Dick Grayson is dealing with a case that's dredging up some unpleasant memories.
It's a good thing they have a doctor around for that sort of thing now.
The Victor Takes the Fall
Stephanie is outmatched by a Gotham monster and Bruce does the Batman thing.
Pick-Me-Up
Damian falls in the cave while already ill and is just having a generally terrible day.
Red Light
Jason Todd and Kiran Devabhaktuni drive to the Manor after Cassandra's ballet recital. Nothing is ever simple in the Wayne family.
Beam Me Up
Dev finally makes it to the Watchtower.
At least it isn't for an emergency.
An Unexpected Afternoon
Bruce Wayne and Jason Todd go book shopping together and, after a few years of work, it's nice that they can just (mostly) get along like a (mostly) normal family.
We Don't Deserve to Win It
Alfred is sick and that's enough to scare anyone.
Unaccompanied Minor
Jason is pretty fond of his new complaint: "Why couldn't Wonder Woman have adopted me instead?"
Bruce is getting pretty tired of it.
Tumblr request.
Chateau Wayne
Jason and Bruce talk about not sleeping and missed opportunities, and make an effort to revive old plans.
Starfighter
When Bruce and Tim end up dealing with a nasty version of fear toxin, the solution is antidote, more antidote, and chilling with some video games while Dev keeps an eye on things.
Keeping anything pointy out of Tim's reach would probably be a good idea, too.
The Furthest From Home We've Ever Been
Tim and Dev have a long-running joke that Tim is King of the Fae.
It's never been a problem until now.
Crash Position
Bruce is having awful nightmares and Dev checks on him. There is some crying.
Serving Sizes Are a Myth
Stephanie and Bruce find a small area of common ground.
The Dimming Days
An off-world experience turns deadly and survival is a matter of Batman being alive enough to keep doing Batman things.
Dev's known this since the minute they ended up here by accident, but Bruce doesn't seem to grasp that.
Jason's Gots Kids
Jason Todd was just going to take in some older foster teens but Gotham's the sort of place that always needs somebody for someone.
And the first call he got was for a baby and he sure as hell wasn't going to say no.
Grandpa Bee & Nanny Cat
This is pure, self-indulgent fluff.
Selina Kyle stops by the manor to find Bruce babysitting-- kind of-- his grandson, Jason's oldest. There's more quiet than chaos and I do not apologize.
Ghosts Under Rocks
Alfred Pennyworth is unflappable, except, of course, for when he isn't.
Or, a story in which there is space for sorrow.
Someone Leads the Beast in on His Chain
Dev is poisoned and Batman gets there just in time.
Flames Flames On My...Thigh
Falling asleep in a costume is a mistake, especially if it's not like, a vigilante costume.
The Babysitter's Club: Tim and the Toddler
Jason just needs someone to watch Isaac for a day. It's only a day. It's sorta last minute.
Tim has never watched Isaac before. Someone else was always around to do the dirty work. But he's the only one available, maybe, and even if a day seems way too long, he can't just leave his brother-- or nephew-- hanging like that.
Tea Time
Alfred Pennyworth and Kiran Devabhaktuni are on a now-annual trip to clean up the lake house for a family gathering. They take a break for tea and the weather does not.
Sow You Back Up Like a Garden
Adult Damian has retired from vigilantism to a quiet life on the Kent Farm. Jason comes to visit after Damian handles an unpleasant situation in town.
Steady Heart, Steady Mind
The flash forward conclusion to Cor Et Cerebrum.

hope is the thing with feathers
Stiles is ten when he saves the Hales from their burning home and Derek from a wolfsbane bullet, and this establishes a pattern that seem to continue indefinitely.
"Then he's facing a burning home, and he wraps the hood of his sweatshirt around his mouth before he pushes the door open and steps inside. There's Mr. Hale asleep - he hopes asleep - on the couch, next to - Stiles thinks that's his brother but there are so many Hales, who can keep track. He rushes over and starts shaking him, can see the rise and fall of the man's chest so he knows he's alive, but he's not waking up.
He shoves away his hood so he can shout, "Mr. Hale! You have to get up, there's a fire! Mr. Hale, get up!" Nothing, he's not even twitching, both of them taking in deep even breaths like they're having the most peaceful of rests, and Stiles is going to cry. "Wake up, wake up, wake up!"
There's a moment, where all Stiles can hear is the blood rushing in his ears and not the roar of the flames or the creak of wood, then with a violent, silent pop it's all back and both of the men are gasping awake, eyes open and jumping to their feet. "pain has an element of blank
OH GOD I'M SORRY HERE'S A THING IT DOESN'T CHANGE ANYTHING SORRY
" He considers it the cruelest of injustices that it's Morgana who finds her way back to both life and his side first, if for no other reason than he can't seem to get rid of her.
"The boy is powerful," she leans against his shoulder, passing him a cardboard cup of coffee that's already been leached of warmth by her hand. "
to fight aloud is very brave
Isaac gets pulled into their crazy, but he loves it, really.
"He expects them to forget about him, now that their latest supernatural disaster isn't tied up in his dad's graveyard.
Two days later it's Christmas Eve, and he hasn't managed to wake on Christmas morning not in the freezer in years. He's huddled on top of his bed with his legs pulled to his chest, waiting, because it's still morning, he has hours more until it will get really bad.
His phone buzzes from a number he doesn't recognize.
Hey, I know it's Christmas Eve and all, but I was wondering if you'd meet me for lunch? The diner on main street at 1?
Ok, he sends back, figures it's Stiles, and even if it's not, it's better than staying here."a man may make a remark
Derek's an alpha, the Argents are back in town, Stiles's magic won't listen to him, and if that's not enough, fucking nature nymphs are popping up everywhere. Stiles didn't sign up for this shit.
"Can't you do something?" he pants, and Stiles hates everything.
He slings Scott's arm over his shoulder, "Not really, no, because right now I can do impossible things, mountain ash, and make coffee, that is the extent of my magical abilities for the foreseeable future."
"Well, you're useless," Scott says, and Stiles doesn't answer, because there's two of them closing in, and running away was stupid to begin with, but it was their only hope. Stiles drops Scott to the ground, has no idea how to protect him from both sides. There's a moment while they circle them, and Stiles hopes the alphas are going to play with them, that they'll survive long enough for the Hales to get here.we grow accustomed to the dark
Five years after 'a man may make a remark' Stiles, Scott, Allison, Jackson, Cory, and Danny get pulled into the canon Teen Wolf universe in 3A to fix a wrong Deaton caused and hopefully put this universe on the right track.
This is literally the most self indulgent, ridiculous thing I've ever done.a spider sewed at night
It's the summer between junior and senior year, and they have to deal not only with demanding, dangerous Fae, but with the arrival of their two latest Coven members.
" Scott rubs the back of his head, "Dude, this is kind of gay."
"Dude, we're kind of gay. I'm in love with a man. We've made out. And don't think for one second I haven't seen those looks you give Isaac. Which might actually work out, I bet Cory is just the kinkiest little shit deep down."
Scott flushes red and hauls himself up onto Charlie. "Shut up," he wraps his arms around Stiles's waist, "We're riding into town shirtless on the back of silvery unicorn named Charlie while drunk off our asses from fae magic."
"We've made all the correct life choices," Stiles says happily before urging Charlie forward. "the moon is distant from the sea
The three year long story about the lust (love?) that grows between Mark Hale and Danny Mahealani.
This started out a little thing, but also kinda grew into a peak into the Hales not from Stiles perspective, so cool
Started at hittwf, and spanning until assan."Danny doesn't try to be popular. He just likes people, and he likes Jackson because he values loyalty and he likes Lydia because she's a freaking genius, and sometime around middle school they both became very concerned about being popular. "
the savior must have been a docile gentleman
The gang is all hovering around twenty five and they're starting to get their lives together.
"Riley, can you please analyze-"
"Stiles!" The twenty five year old professor freezes and the students crane their heads to the scowling black woman the doorway. "You're late. You were supposed to get this class covered, today of all days."
Stiles blinks, capping the expo marker, "That's today? Are you sure?"
Braeden scowls, stomping forward to grab him by the collar of his shirt, "Let's go. Now."Shelves: Teen Wolf
