  4. Summary

Most people living in the upper levels of Coruscant didn't give much thought to what happened to their trash. But when trillions of people are living on top of one another it builds up fast. The privileged probably assumed it was burnt or buried or shipped off to some other planet. The truth was, when trash has nowhere left to go, it doesn't disappear. It simply stops being trash and becomes something else. Part of the landscape, a feature, a landmark. Eventually, even the ground underfoot.

The detritus of a thousand generations, discarded and crushed and compressed until eventually it was indistinguishable from the intentional structures around it. Coruscanti schist, the bedrock of the planet. The present and the future built on the bones and middens of the past.

So when Fox said Coruscant was a city built on its own filth, he meant it literally.

When a handful of clones unexpectedly attack their Jedi, Commander Fox is tasked with clearing their names before "justice" is served. He and his reluctant partner, the peculiar Jedi Quinlan Vos, pursue their investigation deep into Coruscant’s underworld.

  5. Summary

“Commander,” High General Windu says, brows raised in suspicion. “This is the Chancellor’s office holo, is it not? May I speak with him?”

Fox stares at the general, and then down at the black smudge on the floor where Palpatine’s body used to be. Slowly, subtly, he shifts so he’s standing on top of it.

    “Uh,” he says. “…No.”

    Summary

When the clones break free of their chips a few months into the Empire's reign, they think they succeeded in Order 66 and wiped out the majority of the jedi. They devote all of their time and energy into destroying the Empire and saving what force-sensitives are left, doing whatever they can do make up for the lives they destroyed.

And then Fox finds Ferus Olin, and through a chance encounter with the leader of the Rebellion, the clones learn that the jedi might not be as lost as they thought.

    Anthology containing:

    Road of the Lucky

    Ferus is very confused.

He was helping some rebel pilots escape Rithax. Then he was running for his life. Then he was captured, but apparently not kidnapped. Treated by the very people who attacked the temple and tried to mass murder the jedi. And then he was drugged and captured by pirates, and now he’s here.

Bled Dry in a Desert Tomb

Obi-Wan would like to stop running into people trying to kill him, please and thank you very much.

And on the contrary: 212th’s Ghosts would really appreciate it if their general stopped running from them.

    In Place of Peace

When Wolffe learns some of the Jedi survived Order 66, he's confident finding them will be next to impossible. He certainly isn't expecting one to appear on a silver platter, unaware the war even ended, weighed down by half a creche they found in the outer rim.

(Jon hasn't met many clones, doesn't think they normally act like this, but as long as the children are safe, he won't complain about it.)

    The Unfathomable Deep

Aayla pulls them from the dancers, from the ballroom, her hand twisted in his, and there is nothing in this world or the next that could make Bly let go. He’ll stay like this, at her side, forever if she’ll let him.

In the end, he gets three years.

    Where All is Buried

When Order 66 fires early and the galaxy falls apart, Quinlan's entire world gets turned upside down.

So, naturally, he opens a day spa.

    Stars Like Seeds of Light

Boil used to make fun of Wolffe's squad for adopting so many younglings.

    And then he finds Cal.

    Summary

An intense, violent, terrifying group vision leads the Jedi to abandon ship and run from the Republic, taking the Vode with them.

    Anthology containing:

    Cadet in the Cupboard

Kote hears a sound in a cupboard, and immediately adopts what made it.

    Beetles and Crickets

“Sorry, sir, I got distracted because I thought I saw–” He started, trying his best to keep his voice level. Obi-Wan sat back down to watch the proceedings. He definitely did not see Cody turning on his bucket-cam where it sat on his knee.

“General Skywalker eating a beetle? Yes, you have good eyes, Captain.” Rex stopped breathing.

    Visions in Red

“Never.” Master Windu says. Anakin squeezes his eyes shut and takes a shaky breath. “Look at me, Knight Skywalker.”
And he does, looks into the fierce scowl and knows it is not directed at him. Windu looks determined, not angry. More tears fall down his cheeks, get caught on the councilors thumbs.
“Do you understand me?” He continues quietly. Nearly whispering, though it’s so quiet everyone can hear them regardless. “You are a Jedi. You are under my protection. I will never. Not while your eyes are blue, not while you still have Light within you, and not while there is someone else upon which to lay blame.”

The Jedi suffer a mass vision, one of death and horror. One of the end of the Order and the Republic. In order to prevent this and save their family, in order to plan, they run to far corners of the galaxy. They lock down as hard as they possibly can. It allows them to truly reflect, for the first time in decades.

    Summary

Set some time during the clone wars campaigns.

AU where Naboo Senator Obi-Wan adopts the Coruscant Guard. Commander Fox deserves a vacation for all the fires he has to put out left and right. Various unprofessional/feral Jedi give Mace Windu multiple ulcers. And they all incidentally end up throwing a giant wrench into Palpatine’s nefarious plans.

Mostly Crack. To Infinity and Beyond is the only fic with a sprinkling of plot.

    Anthology containing:

    Courage of the Stars

“Do you like it, general?” Hardcase asked eagerly from where he was sprawled over a metal crate in their designated hanger. Anakin stared at the new artwork adorning his battalion’s starfighters and gunships.

It was…an extremely provocative cartoon of Senator Obi-Wan Kenobi clad in skimpy gold lingerie, cradling a vaguely phallic-looking blaster cannon.

“Hey, you said we should come up with a design for the 501st. Remember? To boost morale and whatnot,” Tup reminded, scratching the side of his face.

“I meant something like the Wolfpack's nose art! You know, my head and Ahsoka’s next to some of yours,” Anakin hissed, blood pressure mounting at his men’s casual indifference.

“But that’s so boring,” Hardcase whined, flopping onto his side and upending some half-used paint cans onto the ground.

    To Infinity and Beyond

It was a redhead human male swathed in what looked like six layers of dark lace and silk. The outlandish costume ballooned around him, and as Fox reluctantly got to his feet, he spotted the long train that dragged on the gleaming floor beneath them. Fox peered down at his datapad.

“You must be the new Naboo senator,” He deduced in the silence.

The man ran a distracted hand over his neat facial hair and replied somewhat sardonically, “how could you tell?”

    Baby Butcher

It was the damned adult coloring book, featuring swashbuckling General Kit Fisto grinning from ear-to-ear on the front page. That annoying green Jedi. Only he was in black and white, and waiting for Fox to color him green.

He was going to color him pink out of spite and cram the book down Wolffe’s gullet and the color pencils up his ass—

(Can be read as a stand alone one-shot)

    Hall of Fame

Rex could probably pinpoint the exact moment his general fell in love.

    An Age-Old Dispute

Rex’s general frequently visited the clone commander barracks to vent and complain.

According to Anakin, he had a lot of feelings and opinions.

    An Exercise in Violence

“Just thought I’d apologize for being so rough the other day,” Vos said, loud enough for all the shock troopers in the shift station to hear. Stone’s hand slipped over his cup of caf and the brown liquid splashed down his left leg. It went unnoticed as every one of his subordinates were staring at him. Fox closed his eyes, the familiar simmer of hot rage bubbling beneath his skin.

Oh yeah, the bastard was doing this on purpose to get a reaction out of him.

    A Drunken Excursion

Turning to everyone, Kenobi declared, “drinks are on me tonight, boys. Feel free to order anything off the menu.”

“Sir, permission to profess my undying love for you,” Cody called out, grinning as he blew Kenobi a kiss.

“Out of of line, marshal commander,” Fox hissed furiously as the Naboo senator laughed.

“What are you gonna do, vod?" Cody stuck out his tongue. "I outrank you.”

    A Chance Encounter

He glanced up at the female Twi’lek standing in his doorway. She bit her lip, looking distinctly uncomfortable to be there.

Fox set his datapad down, “May I help you?”

Bly’s Jedi general sucked in a deep breath and blurted out, “I would like to apologize for my former master’s inappropriate behavior.”

    “Former master?”

“Quinlan Vos,” She said with an embarrassed grimace, “I was recently made aware of the fact that he has been…following you these past weeks, commander.”

    An Impending Doom

“Is this absolutely necessary, General Skywalker?” Palpatine sputtered as he swept the long brown locks out of his wrinkled face. Someone had stuck an unkempt wig on the Chancellor’s head. It looked like a woodland creature had died on him if Rex were to be honest. Kenobi, crouched in front of the old man, was dabbing bits of plant pigment over his thin colorless lips.

“Grievous doesn’t know about us crash-landing on this planet as well,” Anakin explained patiently, “maybe add some blush and eyeshadow, Obi-Wan. The point is, sir, I must do my best to keep you safe. The Separatists will be looking for Senator Kenobi, but they won’t glance twice in your direction if you’re not you.”

    A Hostile Intervention

    “Is it poisoned?” Fox asked.

Wolffe folded his arms over his apron, obscuring the word Boss and only leaving Bitch on proud display.

    “No.”

    “Laxatives? Sleeping pills?”

    An Unexpected Adoption

The clone medic on duty stared at the four grown men and two human fetuses framed in his doorway.

“You want me to do what?” Kix asked.

“I’m ordering you to change her diapers,” Fox said as authoritatively as he could muster.

Rex’s medic scratched his stubbled chin and pointed to the exit, “with all due respect, sir, kindly get out of my infirmary.”

(Senator Amidala leaves Commander Fox in charge of the twins. It goes as well as one would expect.)

    A New Hope

A year ago around this time, Fox had been appointed the Head of the Coruscant Military Police. Six battalions had been on leave for the New Year celebrations. The ghosts of his healed stomach ulcers were starting to burn just thinking about it.

“We cannot have a repeat of last year’s debacle, Fox. That is why the Jedi Council and Republic Senate agreed unanimously that you should oversee the planning task force.” Chancellor Palpatine picked up a thin datapad from his desk and held it out to a stunned Fox, “High General Windu wrote a list of requirements that he addressed to, I quote, ‘the only adult in the room.’ I assumed he was referring to you, commander.”

  10. Summary

“They must receive an allowance from the Order,” Kote said.

“How much, then?” Rex asked up at him.

Kote tipped his head and just stared into Rex’s eyes endlessly, the way he did when people asked him questions that made him want to swallow them whole with their own ignorance.

“No way of knowing without intrusive measures,” he determined.

“We gotta ask one,” Bly translated for Rex.

(The troopers make a discovery of the fiscal variety, which causes them to realize that they may have more in common with the jedi than they previously thought.)
