    Summary

Mace Windu was many things, but a morning person was not one of them. Nevertheless, the Force had deemed the ass-end of dawn to be an appropriate time to drag him out of bed and into the gardens. Not that he didn’t enjoy the scenery, but after returning from a grueling diplomatic endeavour-turned hostage negotiation not even three hours ago, he’d rather enjoy the pitch-black setting of his room.

Still, he was a Jedi and, as such, Mace’s duty would always be to follow the will of the Force. Today, it decided to lead him towards the forested areas where two younglings were huddled together at the base of a large tree, sleeping.

Mace tended not to spend a lot of time in the creche, but he recognized the Kiffar child as his friend Tholme's unconventional Padawan. Quinlan Vos, he believed his name was. The other boy was a scrawny redhead with deeper bags under his eyes than most grown adults and the Force drew his attention to this boy in particular.

(In which Knight Windu meets five-year-old Kenobi and six-year-old Vos and, while some things stay the same, everything changes.)

  3. Summary

Most people living in the upper levels of Coruscant didn't give much thought to what happened to their trash. But when trillions of people are living on top of one another it builds up fast. The privileged probably assumed it was burnt or buried or shipped off to some other planet. The truth was, when trash has nowhere left to go, it doesn't disappear. It simply stops being trash and becomes something else. Part of the landscape, a feature, a landmark. Eventually, even the ground underfoot.

The detritus of a thousand generations, discarded and crushed and compressed until eventually it was indistinguishable from the intentional structures around it. Coruscanti schist, the bedrock of the planet. The present and the future built on the bones and middens of the past.

So when Fox said Coruscant was a city built on its own filth, he meant it literally.

When a handful of clones unexpectedly attack their Jedi, Commander Fox is tasked with clearing their names before "justice" is served. He and his reluctant partner, the peculiar Jedi Quinlan Vos, pursue their investigation deep into Coruscant’s underworld.

    Summary

Obi-Wan had been joking when he’d theorized that their resupply ship might be carrying his new Padawan. To find that it’s transporting not supplies, but two younglings sent by Master Yoda, is a sharp reminder of how much the green troll likes to meddle. There’s no way that he’ll reject his newly-assigned Padawan, though, even if a battlefield is the last place that a ten-year-old with psychometry should be.

Cody wasn’t expecting to suddenly be partially responsible for looking after a Padawan-Commander, but he doesn’t exactly mind, per se. In fact, most of the 212th is excited, and soon, Cody’s just as determined to bond with the little Commander—but for some unknown reason, the Padawan keeps flinching away.

Cal doesn’t know how he ended up back in the Clone Wars. Last he’d checked, time travel isn’t possible, but then, what would he know? He’d only been a Padawan for eight months before Order 66 had gone out. Now, he’s just trying to survive being the General Kenobi’s Padawan, get a handle on his psychometry again, and convince his instincts that the 212th isn’t about to shoot him. Oh, and he should probably do something to change the future, right?

    Summary

All of these have Dai Bendu in them; translations may or may not be given, dependant on what sort of story I'm going for, and who is the POV narrator of each one. Pragmatics of the Jedi is where I found that, so if you want to know more, or read more with that in it, I'd head over there.

    Anthology containing:

    THE FORCE WILLS DOCUMENTARY

For years, the culture of the Jedi has remained largely untouchable by the public. What is known is diluted by rumours and the wear of time.

In this series, we'll explore the origins of the Jedi Order,

    Their traditions,

    Their values and beliefs,

    And their lives.

    jaieh

jaieh: (Dai Bendu) someone who has earned the title of Mastery in the Jedi Order; a Knight who has taken on a Padawan

The Master is responsible for the Padawan's safety and education; and should the Master fall -

    ibli jetii

ibli: (Dai Dendu) small, younger, little

Ursa wasn’t a fan of the jetii. She was Mando’ad, she was their enemy, and they were her enemy. Which made finding a tiny little… thing that much weirder.

    mikodail rah'eni

mikodail rah'eni (Dai Bendu) we the Jedi, our siblings

    "What's a clan?"

"A group of Jedi around the same age who share a dorm and class times," Kanan answered, wrapping a white bandage around the mirialan's arm, pinning it into place with practiced ease. "It's essentially a small family."

"So you're like, Kanan's siblings?" Ezra asked, brightening.

    iil orhma

iil orhma: (Dai Bendu) lit. to freeze warmth

In the day, a desert is burning hot, while at night, it is freezing cold.

    netanalo

netanalo: (Dai Bendu) lit. remembrance vision; a Force echo, a glimpse into the past

The Senate had sent a child to see into the past. A Padawan, Ahsoka's age, not much older. Rex's heart pounded in his chest, climbing towards his throat, because damn the Senate, did they know how this would affect the kid, or did they just not care?

    rah kat

rah kat: (Dai Bendu) family; a collection of people who are tightly knit

“Aay’shee,” Obi-Wan murmurs into her ear, rocking her gently, like when jaieh was off on a mission she couldn’t go on, so her jaieh-raheniel would take turns having her over at their apartments.

    jire

jire: (Dai Bendu) fast; with speed; quickly

Jyn Erso, in a cave of a thousand songs, cannot find the one she came for.

    ibli rahjr

ibli rahjr: (Dai Bendu) younger, future family member(s); Foundling

"Sir?" Styles said, "Why do you have a baby?"

    "I found him."

    kewan kawa

kewan kawa: (Dai Bendu) lovely song; lullaby

Ahsoka sings, Obi-Wan sobs, and the children of the Force walk alone.

    ania

    ania: (Dai Bendu) melody

    Ahsoka stresses and Cal hums.

    zahlah

zahlah: (Dai Bendu) a story, something that you can learn from

“This is Master Cere Junda of the Jedi Order,” the message said, showing a darker-skinned woman, hair cropped short, “And I have a message for the Sith that rule our galaxy."

    ehnoct

ehnoct: (Dai Bendu) pain caused by psychic backlash of some sort

They’d discussed the excursion in detail before even considering actually going on it. Gone over their route and what to expect and what to do if they did get separated, somehow. Cal had no idea how they’d been separated in the first place, but he could feel the pounding drum of his heartbeat in his fingers and toes, and the burn of fresh tears in his eyes.

  8. Summary

In a world of scientifically proven psychic abilities, the practitioners - the so-called Talents - are called on to serve the public good. This is never more true than in Gotham, where the Wayne Parapsychic Institute works diligently for justice and peace in what is otherwise a mecca of rogue Talents. Bruce Wayne is one of the most powerful Talents on record; a Prime. So are all his children. All, that is, except for Tim Drake; a winged donkey to their high-flying Pegasus. Fed up with the constant reminders that he will never be able to catch up to their flight into the stars and beyond, he leaves.

Trying to put the shattered pieces of his life together, he comes across Jason Todd; former member of the Wayne Parapsychic Institute and a powerhouse in terms of Talent, alive in an asylum years after everyone assumed him dead.

Tim is determined to help Jason find a way back. Jason might end up teaching him a way forward.

    Tainted Light by Azalea_Scroggs

    “I'm Luke Skywalker.”

Cal's breath caught in his throat. Had the stranger not said it, he would never have guessed.

The first thought that came to mind was how young he seemed. When he'd thought of Skywalker, he'd imagined him as a middle-aged veteran and a seasoned warrior, someone to look up to, who could help show him his place in the galaxy again; not this lanky boy with a careless sort of charm, a small stubble on his chin, constantly hovering between awkwardness and grace, between innocence and wisdom in a way only youth could.

“Cal Kestis,” he replied, holding out a hand and hoping Skywalker hadn't noticed his surprise. “I've been wanting to meet you.”

The boy shook his hand, and Cal tried not to wonder too much about the black glove and the iron grip. A prosthetic, no doubt. He could feel echoes of old pain hidden under the fabric, faded enough to be ignored.

It didn't surprise him, and the story behind it was none of his business. They all had their scars.

A Thousand Lights of Sun by Azalea_Scroggs & kyber-erso (aoraki)

A few weeks after they met, Cal and Luke are called to perform some diplomatic work on Jedha as Jedi Knights. But after the ravages wrought by the Death Star, it's with the Force itself something is wrong. The two of them will have to work together and face their deepest vulnerabilities in order to prevail...

    Summary

The Force is the first language that Obi-Wan learned to speak, the brush of one mind against another. But food is the second language that Obi-Wan learned to speak with, and he talks, he talks, he talks.

A collection of fics about food and how food is an articulation of love.

    --

    Art inspired by the series!
    dumpling making by katanrock

    --

    Anthology containing:

團圓 | To Gather [In a Circle]

The first meal that Obi-Wan learns to make is hotpot.

It is the first meal that Obi-Wan learns to make: the warmth of his friends, his family, and the warmth of a full belly assuring him that all is well.

It is the strongest memory he carries with him.

    喜碗 | joy, dishes

Quinlan likes dishwashing duty. Likes to wash the dishes barehanded. He likes to touch them, feel the imprints of the Jedi who’ve just eaten. He whispers what he learns to Obi-Wan, who always stands, shoulder-to-shoulder with him, when Quinlan volunteers for dishwashing duty again and again.

    --

Quinlan, his psychometry, and the joy of a peaceful meal in the temple.

    貼心 | consideration

Obi-Wan returns to the temple after Naboo, with no master, a new padawan, and no appetite. Quinlan shows up: with friends, to make dumplings, to cook, and to eat.

熬夜 | To Stay Up All Night

Nights are long, and Obi-Wan has visions, has dreams, has memories of darkness. But companionship and food: they make the nights easier to endure as he waits for dawn.

找碴 | to find fault with, to pick a fight

Obi-Wan and Anakin; Morning tea and discussions.

    --

“Is this what Jedi do, drink tea instead of freeing slaves?”

Obi-Wan sets his cup down. “How would you free the slaves, Anakin?”

Anakin has a lightsaber. He is strong in the Force. The answer is at the tip of his tongue.

Obi-Wan pours himself more tea. He is precise. He is graceful. He has practiced this ceremony over a hundred times over the years. He hopes he will never have to stop, never have to pick up his saber when a well-performed tea ceremony will serve instead.

    煎熬 | suffering

In the face of suffering, Mace chooses what compassion he can offer.

He is a Jedi, and that means that he is now leading men into battle. He is head of the Order, and that means that he must order his brothers and sisters among the Jedi to battle. He watches his men die, he feels his fellow Jedi blink out in the Force. Every day, he sits and churns and there is so much death in the galaxy now that it feels as though it is straining at the edges, about to shatter.

    孝順 | filial, dutiful

Most of the masters make rounds of the tables, finding members of their lineage, when green onion pancake is served. With Obi-Wan as part of Master Yoda’s lineage, Master Yoda will probably show up the minute Anakin gets back with his platter, wide eyes and long ears perked up as he cajoles a piece out. It was common enough when Obi-Wan was a padawan; Master Yoda would be halfway across the refectory, and the minute Obi-Wan got back with his platter, Master Yoda would be at their table making conversation with Master Qui-Gon, waiting for Obi-Wan’s impeccable manners to offer him a slice.

    --

On food, and matters of lineage.

    平果 | peace, fruit

As initiates, they would march into the Halls with their clans. They’d sit around a bowl of fruit with sharp knives, peeling the skin off fruit, shaving off fuzz and pulling away rinds. Their chairs would be set out of the way, and they would clutch their sharp knives in their small hands so carefully. Obi-Wan remembers offering plates of cut fruit to healing jedi, their pain easing into the Force at such simple generosity.

    --

    On fruit and healing.

    客氣 | courtesy

Obi-Wan grew up in the Temple. The foundation of all of his knowledge begins in the creche, in lessons from creche masters and then Archivists and Knights and Masters. And before he takes his first class, he learns at the table, with the other initiates as they eat Alderaan stew for dinner, vegetable soup from Tibrin, fried Nuna legs from Phindar.

Qui-Gon doesn’t mind when Obi-Wan starts spending more time in their shared kitchen, squinting at recipes on the holonet and requesting supplies from Stores. He gets to eat all of Obi-Wan’s attempts, and he does so manfully, even when they turn out burnt or bitter. Obi-Wan works through the Inner Core, the Mid Rim, the Outer Rim, and even Hutt Space, bent over their small stove. With each course that Obi-Wan takes, he adds dozens of new dishes to his repertoire. But the triumph is the first time Obi-Wan hosts latemeal, bearing Bant’s favorite algae soup out on platters, and Bant’s wide-eyed delight.

    --

Obi-Wan learns about the galaxy, so he can always feed his friends the food of their homeworlds.
