Summary
Han Solo is a smuggler. He has the fastest ship in the whole Galaxy. He puts up a front every day to forget the horrors he lived when he was a child. He swore to never get involved with the Empire, that's why he was working for Jabba.
All his defenses start crumbling when he meets Luke Skywalker and he sees something in the kid's eyes. The Skywalker Velcro Syndrome had struck and he was the one chosen.
Luke helped him feel hope again, and Han had to repay the favour somehow. Trailing after the kid to get him out of his messes without anyone being the wiser was harder than he thought.

It was a shadow, deeper and darker than any he’d felt; perhaps rivalling his own. As it came closer anticipatory energy ran through him and he drew the Force to him, pulling in every current of emotion that moved its black depths and feeding every scrap of hate and disgust that his own black heart had been able to conjure to the dark side along with them.
Now the shadow climbed the steps and war drums beat through the Force, thundering in Sidious’ ears.

This is an AU of loosingletters' The Background Noise Of Defiance verse
Instead of Luke inadvertently revealing to his anonymous holonet friend that his last name is Skywalker, thus revealing himself as the son of said holonet friend (yes, Darth Vader has a Space Twitter), he keeps mum and instead takes on Vader's job offer, becoming the new Head Engineer aboard the Executor, alias, the Lady. While he's thrilled to be there, thriving on getting to improve the lackluster hardware that gets shunted onto the rank-and-file of the Empire and building up a rapport with the mysterious Sith Lord who is fast becoming the father figure he never had, not everyone aboard is as happy about the young engineer shaking up the previously well-cemented hierarchy of the Lady.
But ask Luke and Vader if they care. All Piett knows is that this is gonna be one hell of a headache and way above his paygrade. At least he gets to see his boss be put in his place by a teenage engineer and Lord Vader himself.
How To Give A Presentation To The Imperial Court While Accidentally Committing Light Treason By Making A Friend
As it turns out, inventing new armor technology was the easy part. Getting it approved for actual production, Luke finds, is a lot more work and a lot more boring. Thankfully, he has his mentor, Darth Vader, to help him sort through the process and occasionally keep him company throughout all the boring meetings. Unfortunately, his industrious and ingenious nature catches the attention of many other people, some of which Luke really wishes he could've avoided the attention of.
After getting summoned to the Imperial Palace by the Emperor to present his latest invention to the Court and the Senate, Luke finds himself smackdab in the middle of a complicated web of Imperial politics, the threads of which he can't yet see.
There lurks more in these shadows than just threats however, and Luke may not be the wholly naïve and inexperienced prey some of the players in the Imperial Court were expecting. With enough charm and tenacity, he finds that here too, friendships can be found and pacts can be forged. And with the full might of Darth Vader at his back, perhaps the Imperial Court would've done better to leave well enough alone.

Summary
After losing his hand on Cloud City and discovering that Darth Vader is his father, Luke thinks things over and comes to the conclusion that a) Vader is actually on the Rebellion's side and just hasn't realized it yet, b) Vader needs his help, c) Vader needs to figure out that he and the Rebellion want the same things, and d) the best way to accomplish both b. and c. is to (obviously) surrender to Vader and refuse to leave him alone, trusting in the Power of Love to change Vader's ways.
Leia, Ahsoka, and the rest of Luke's friends in the Alliance disagree with this, but they can't get Luke to leave, and Vader can't kill them because it would destroy his new relationship with his son (it's not that Vader is attached to them at all -- no, no). Admiral Piett is forced to open up the unused guest quarters on the Executor as the Sleepover to Restore the Republic (And Maybe Save Darth Vader in the Process) drags on and grows to unreasonable proportions.

A Lost Heart Regained
He found the woman in the storage room, a blaster in her hand like her husband. A valiant but ultimately futile last stand. She was lying at an odd angle, curled around something.
Vader knelt down and the shape, small and marred with the same blood and gore as the woman, moved.

Vader froze as a small head lifted up from being buried in the woman- Beru! Owen had called her Beru- buried in Beru’s side.

Hearts Bruised And Broken
On Tatooine he would often reach out into the Force, gently and quietly, just reassuring himself that Leia was out there, that she was fine. More often than not he would find his concentration pulled by the closer Force signature of Luke. At the time he had put it down to fear overriding his training, an inability to turn away from his duty even to check on the other must important child in the galaxy to him. Now though, looking at the twins he wondered if he had gotten it wrong, it wasn’t him or his abilities at all.
They were so strong, so bright and so unified.
But how could Anakin’s children be anything else?General Kenobi's Padawan brings a long lost child to the rebellion and the three of them must navigate the impact of their reunion while war rages on.
My Heart Is A Haunted House
She knelt before the Emperor, the gleaming black floor so shiny below his throne that she could see herself as clearly as if she were looking in the mirror.
“Rise my Hand,” Palpatine said. “Come closer child so I might look at you.
Mara obeyed easily, her movements fluid as she climbed the dais and settled down on her knees before the Emperor, close enough for him to reach out and take her chin in his fingers.
His touch was icy cold and sent a shudder rippling below her skin.
“You’ve always been loyal Mara. Loyal and strong. The Empire is held together with loyalty. It keeps the whole machine functioning.”The Emperor sends his most loyal servant to bring back a traitor who has defected to the rebel Alliance. The problem is Mara has known Luke for years, grown up with him and cares for him. Her loyalty has never been tested like this before and it is about to get a whole more difficult when she meets his new friends: a jedi, a rebel princess and a smuggler.
The Heart Is The Size Of A Fist
At first Vader occupied his mind by imagining every agony he would visit on them in revenge. He dreamt of limbs torn from sockets, skin flayed, bones cracked, blood streaming from every pore.
It brought no peace. The dreams were punctuated by flashes of nightmares: Luke running from stormtroopers, calling for help, Leia dragged before the Emperor, the daughter he’d never known burnt and torn by lightning.The Emperor knows his apprentice has betrayed him and exacts his revenge accordingly.
Rescue comes from an unlikely source.

Luke was snapped back to the present.
“What did you say?”
Obi-Wan bit back a laugh, looking at Luke and Leia with bright eyes.
“Vader broke his Force bond with Sidious.”The Empire is imploding.
