The mission wasn’t going too badly, in Ahsoka’s opinion, until she was promptly shot from behind. Twice.

She fell to the floor and passed out before she could see that she’d been hit by one of her own men. Tup, one of the most loyal troopers in the 501st, had just shot their Commander and everyone had…varying reactions.

    or

What if Ahsoka never left the Jedi Order and was the one to be shot by Tup when his inhibitor chip broke?

    THEN:
In the midst of the Clone Wars, a newly-minted Jedi Knight vanishes, suspected of defecting. But the woman brought back to face the Council is not Knight Tulin, but an officer of an extragalactic organization that calls itself ‘Starfleet’.

Curiosity, and a determination to rectify the mistake, drive Plo Koon to take the lost Commander Chester under his wing. But between Republic Intelligence’s sinister interest in their extra-galactic visitor, the growing Separatist determination to capture her for themselves, and the good Commander’s own determined escape attempts, keeping Chester alive is hard enough–let alone getting her home.

    NOW:
In the horrific wake of Order 66, a badly injured Plo Koon stakes his survival on one last desperate hyperspace jump, to a mysterious anomaly that might offer hope for him–and for what little remains of the Jedi Order. For Captain Diane Chester, Plo’s arrival is confirmation of all her fears. Now, she’s got to keep the Empire’s grubby hands off the Alpha Quadrant with only one ship, one Jedi, and that greatest Starfleet tradition–a hell of a lot of showmanship.

Mando’ad Draar Digu (A Mandalorian Never Forgets)

A run-in on an Imperial ship between Mandalorians and New Republic pilots ends in violence and a stalemate. Tensions are now heightened as several New Republic senators extend negotiations to the mysterious ruler of Mandalore, a reformed planet isolated from the galaxy.

Mand’alor Din Djarin and Duchess Bo-Katan Kryze begin defensive discussions with the Galactic Senate, opposed to becoming involved in any outside government after so recently reclaiming their home planet. As they aim to keep Din’s identity confidential, the Mandalorians hunt the rest of the Empire in the Outer Rim and attempt to avoid the New Republic’s domineering presence.

  5. Summary

The Force was screaming around him, mourning as the Jedi fell by the hundreds. For the first time, Vader was hit by the sheer weight of what he had done. The choices he had made. The Jedi were dying, and it was his fault.

He flinched away from the realization. He didn't want to think about it. He was doing this to save Padmé. That was all that mattered.

    No.

    No.

What would Obi-Wan say? The same thing he always said. 'One life was not worth a thousand deaths'.

He looked at the children in front of him. The scared, helpless children. Who were looking to him for help?

And Anakin Skywalker made his choice. The choice he should have made a long time ago. He reached outwards, not towards the Dark and its intoxicating song, but for what lay behind it — the Light.

The road to redemption is always a hard one to walk. Anakin Skywalker trapped in a time loop of the last few hours of the Republic is forced to learn that the hard way.

    Birds Fly in Different Directions

In the corridor beyond her quarters, other Jedi were emerging from their own doors, most of them wide-eyed with shock. A few merely looked blearily concerned, and Aayla heard snatches of questions as she darted past, queries as to whether everyone experienced the same distressing vision. But those who clutched at their chests or throats, their weak points- those Jedi bore a muted horror in their eyes, and Aayla didn’t doubt they’d just suffered their own betrayals from trusted men.

(Force, her men. What happened to them?)

I know that ooo-ooh, birds fly, in different directions
Oo-ooh, I hope, to see you again

Gave My All, Did My Best

Clone Commanders all up and down the hall came awake at the same moment. Some had died in the war. More had lived beyond it.

Bly’s little puddle of vomit didn’t remain alone for long.

Wolffe, of all people, managed to get them moving. He stormed through each hall of sleep tubes, barking at his brothers to straighten up, grab their gear, hurry up and fall in. “You want to save our Jedi? Or sit around crying until the war starts again?”

Swallowing, Bly snagged his personal datapad and joined the growing line.

    Summary

Tales of the Jedi: Stories about lightsabers, masters, and apprentices. Disney canon compliant.

    Anthology containing:

    Clarity.

Mace first sees the crystal when he invites his new padawan to meditate with him.

    Devotions.

Your lightsaber is your life, his master tells him, early on in his apprenticeship.  Your blade will be devoted to you, and so you must devote your life to your lightsaber in turn.  Keep it close.

This is the first lesson Obi-Wan learns, sitting at his master’s feet and watching closely as Qui-Gon bends over his lightsaber.

(A story about lightsabers, masters, and apprentices.)

    Resonance.

And there is his padawan, alone in the dim lighting of the Temple’s evening, moving through a kata with an unfamiliar orange blade in his hand.

    Sanctum.

Obi-Wan has never felt another like the loss of so many Jedi at once.  It is as though the Force has been torn asunder, unable to mend itself.  He hears the cries echoing in his head long after these voices fall silent.

He should release these feelings into the Force; this is his duty as a Jedi.  But the very power that he must surrender his grief to is the same power that pains him to touch.

Written for Anthem of the Broken: An Obi-Wan Kenobi Fanzine.

    Living memory.

Kanan has been on the run for the majority of his life. And danger has become merely another tool he wields, as much as his blaster or saber.

At night, Kanan examines his memories.

    Call and song.

Even in the animal world, birds find each other through call and song.  Jedi seek Jedi; it is as natural as breathing, and he and Luke are among the last of their kind.  Unsurprising then, that they should keep finding one another, even out here in the desert, where so many of the lost wander the sands.

    Excoriate.

The kyber does not flash at him in recognition, as it had once before when he had been another man, when its owner had fallen to the ground unconscious and disarmed, when he had snatched up this lightsaber and wielded it alongside his own.  Nor does the kyber does not seem to know its master is dead.  Vader can recall stories of fallen Jedi whose lightsabers grieved the loss of their wielder, their sorrow bleeding through the Force.

Vader closes his eyes and reaches out with the Force, connecting with the crystal.

    Who is your master?

    Ways and means.

Din sighs. “I’m here because I need you to teach me how to use...” He gestures at the darksaber hanging from his belt.  “Well.  This.”

    Gatherings.

Finn finds himself glancing away, off to the shadow on the horizon that the navicomputer calls the Jundland Wastes.  There's a whisper in his mind, quiet as dried leaves skittering across the ground.

He leaves Rey kneeling in the sand, her spirit deep in communion with the Force.

A small shift changes everything. When the newly apprenticed Darth Vader comes marching with his brainwashed army to slaughter the Jedi, the Temple is not taken off guard.

    They fight back. They escape.

Now, after warning the field generals and evacuating the Temple, the Jedi pick up the troopers on Kamino to flee and regroup.

The bugle sounds. It’s the start of another.

They will not be beaten down.

    Anthology containing:

    We Are Burning Stars

In another world, it would have been covered up by the darkness in the Force, of his soldier’s minds going blank and the horrifying feeling his fellow Jedi dying and blinking out across the galaxy. In another world, he wouldn’t know until he had proof on tape when he returned to the temple, escaping Utapau. In another world, his confrontation would have been a singular duel on a planet encased in lava, surrounded by a building that was falling apart and the bodies of his apprentice’s latest victims.

But this world? This world, he was not on a faraway planet, fighting against droves of droids on his loyal and steadfast varactyl mount. This world he was in the Temple, walking alongside his Commander. And this would change everything.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is in the Temple when Anakin Skywalker goes to the Dark Side.

From the East to the West

In this world, he was not on a faraway planet, fighting against droves of droids on his loyal and steadfast varactyl mount. This world he was in the Temple, walking alongside his Commander. And this would change everything.
Obi-Wan Kenobi was in the Temple when Anakin Skywalker goes to the Dark Side.

As the remaining Jedi and a portion of clones flee the Empire in search of a safe haven, attempting to rescue and help any other jedi and clones they can, the galaxy gets progressively darker and the Jedi and their allies are not exactly in a position to stop it.

For now, they just need to survive.

    Summary

It started out like many of his nightmares. The shriek of blaster fire and explosions deafening, his father holding him tightly to his chest. Running from the hulking droids. His parents ushered him inside the cellar. Then shut the heavy metal door, leaving him in darkness and silence, to the raging battle just outside.

The door jerked open with a thud. The shadows of that terrible droid appeared in the opening. He held his breath for his inevitable death. A blue blaster shot downed the droid. It fell with a thud. He glanced up expecting to see the now comfortable armor of his saviors.

The helmet that stared back was definitely not Mandalorian.

    Summary

The Moments That Time Remembered, a fic about Obi-Wan's life from a very young age if he was plagued with debilitating visions, and its related sidestories.

    Anthology containing:

    The Moments That Time Remembered

Obi-Wan’s first memory was not his own. Rather, it was a vision steeped in darkness and flashes of red and choking heat and you were my brother and the harsh crash of lightsabers striking one another. He woke up sobbing in the arms of the crèchemaster, Master Kitaddik, who was hushing him and gently stroking the top of his head with her furry hands. Obi-Wan hid his face in the soft folds of her tunic and, still crying, fell back asleep.

The first time Obi-Wan collapsed due to a vision was not long after that.

[Or: in all the various iterations of Obi-Wan Kenobi’s life, the Force spoke to him. But in this one, it never stopped.]

    Healing Hands, Healing Heart

As they walked through the Temple, Obi-Wan held the hand of his crèchemaster tightly and resisted the urge to duck his face into her soft robes and hide there. He didn't want to go to the Halls of Healing, but he didn't have a choice.

[Or: young Obi-Wan has a hard week, and Vokara Che tries to make it a little better.]

    A Momentous Misunderstanding

Newly Knighted Depa Billaba returns to the Temple after a long year of missions to find that there is someone else in her bed in the quarters she'd shared with her Master.

Young Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi wakes up to a strange woman accusing him of stealing her room.

[Or: the story of Depa and Obi-Wan's first meeting in a universe where Mace took Obi-Wan as his Padawan after Depa.]

An Inauspicious Meeting Between Two Mortal Enemies

When Obi-Wan woke up, the first sensation he recognized was that someone was brushing a wet washcloth under his nose.

    [Or: Obi-Wan meets his nemesis.]

Made Just A Little Bit Better

    Depa froze. “It's your birthday?”

“...Yes?” Obi-Wan frowned, not sure what the big deal was.

She stood stock still for a few moments longer, then nodded her head up and down very slowly. “You know what, I… think I might have seen your comm out on the reception desk. Let me go look for it. Be back soon.”

Obi-Wan was very confused by this behavior, but he just furrowed his eyebrows and leaned back further into the bed. “...Okay?”

[Or: Obi-Wan is in the Halls of Healing on his birthday and Depa tries to make it a little better for him.]
