    Broken Threads

The battle is over, the rebels have won. But Luke Skywalker is still reeling from his ordeal in the Emperor's throne room, both physically and emotionally. Wracked with pain and fatigue, he tries to recuperate on Endor with a few days of much-needed rest. But before he even has a chance to relax, he's captured by an enterprising bounty hunter in Mandalorian armor.

Din Djarin can't believe his luck. It's the score of his life, the bounty they all said was impossible. The payout will set his Tribe up well... so long as they don't know exactly who he made a deal with. But the job turns out to be more than Din bargained for when his bounty collapses from mysterious injuries, and he must face the truth of the horrors the Empire has wrought.

Now, on the run from half the galaxy, it's a race against time as Din helps Luke find a cure for the disease that's slowly breaking the hero apart. There's only one problem... they need a Jedi. And Luke is the last of his kind.

    Or is he?

(Part 2 of Broken Threads, but could be read alone)

After rescuing Grogu from Moff Gideon's cruiser, Din Djarin returns with Luke Skywalker to his fledgling Jedi Order, hidden safely on the peaceful planet of Bogano. But Din can't rest yet--not while he struggles with the oppressive weight of the Darksaber and a broken creed.

Meanwhile, Luke Skywalker fights against his own doubts as he tries to lead his new Order, finish his training, and understand the forboding visions that have recently begun to plague him. Dreams of a shadow stretching out from the Unknown Regions, fires raging across the Outer Rim, and warriors fighting desperately to save a dead planet.

As the truth begins to unravel everything Luke and Din know, what will remain of them? The Republic? The galaxy?

Mando’ad Draar Digu (A Mandalorian Never Forgets)

A run-in on an Imperial ship between Mandalorians and New Republic pilots ends in violence and a stalemate. Tensions are now heightened as several New Republic senators extend negotiations to the mysterious ruler of Mandalore, a reformed planet isolated from the galaxy.

Mand’alor Din Djarin and Duchess Bo-Katan Kryze begin defensive discussions with the Galactic Senate, opposed to becoming involved in any outside government after so recently reclaiming their home planet. As they aim to keep Din’s identity confidential, the Mandalorians hunt the rest of the Empire in the Outer Rim and attempt to avoid the New Republic’s domineering presence.

But Senator Leia Organa isn’t taking no for an answer with peace on the line.

(Oh, and of course, the clan of two reunites.)

    Summary

When Luke was eight, he was taken from his home on Tatooine and delivered into the hands of the emperor and his right hand.

When Luke was sixteen, he overheard the emperor's plans to steal a tiny Force sensitive child and saves him first, before being caught and dragged back to his masters' keeping.

When Luke was eighteen, he finds that same child on Gideon's cruiser, and spares both him and his family, including a silver clad Mandalorian.

And when Luke was twenty-four, he is captured by the Rebellion (captured or did he just let it happen? Really up for debate) and secretly sent as a prisoner to Mandalore, where Mand'alor Din Djarin rebuilds his planet and raises his son.

And the rest was history. Or the beginning.

    Summary

Din Djarin wakes up on the Razorcrest as his eight year old, freshly orphaned self, with thirty years of memories weighing on his mind. He knows it was real (why would he still have this stupid lasersword otherwise?) and has one goal: to find Grogu and make sure he’s safe. Who knows, maybe he’ll try to save the galaxy, if it’s convenient. First, he has to figure out what’s going on, but all his long-dead Mandalorian caretaker will tell him is they’re going to visit an ally of his on a stormy ocean planet.

OR: A time travel fix-it AU starring Din Djarin faces the Jedi, the Creed, the Darksaber, and himself. He and his friends, both new and old, take on the task of saving the entire galaxy from the Sith to prevent the Empire’s existence.

    Summary

As a rule, Din Djarin did not set expectations. Plans, sure. Even goals. But not expectations. Everything that could go sideways or wrong on a bounty often did— especially when Jedi were involved.

But time-traveling Jedi… now that really re-set the bar.

For padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi's part, being pulled from Mandalore to Tython through nearly fifty of history felt pretty on-brand for his particular type of luck.

Grogu’s just glad his new companion’s here. Boba Fett— less so. And Fennec would like some warra nuts for the nerf rodeo that’s about to commence.

    Cin Vhetin (A New Start)

“He can’t be mad,” Tim said. He was using his most reasonable, listen-to-me-I’m-using-logic voice, which was a sure sign he was about to do something stupid. “We’re Mandalorians! Learning how to use weapons is an important part of maintaining the Creed.”
“Self-defense,” Jason agreed. “What happens if we need to defend ourselves and all that’s available is Din’s laser sword? Are we supposed to just give up?”

    Summary

Grogu dropped his ball and tried not to cry. It wasn’t fair. He was back with his buir. Their family was complete. They were supposed to be happy. But Bo’bavodu--Uncle Boba--was sad—so sad that Grogu thought his own chest would break open from just the echo of Bo’bavodu’s sadness. Bo’bavodu had lost his buir. Grogu understood. He’d cried a lot when Jedi Master Skywalker took him from his buir.

But, how was he supposed to get Bo’bavodu his buir back? He frowned—and then he heard it. The funny voice he sometimes heard. The one that told him when bad things were happening and what he needed to do.

    Summary

This collection of long fictions, short stories, and scattered one-shots depicts my departure from the Star Wars Cannon beginning after Return of the Jedi and carrying through from the end of Season 2 of the Mandalorian. Up until this point, I generally account for and include all of the existing Star Wars Cannon. But because I don't love the Disney canon, I decided to re-write a lot of the existing story - ESPECIALLY the Sequel Trilogy - as an alternate universe version of what could have happened differently.

    Anthology containing:

    Empire's End

Grand Admiral Thrawn has vanished, and the tide has turned for the Rebellion. As the ashes of the second Death Star settle upon Endor, the New Republic rises. Old friends return from mysterious exiles, as Thrawn schemes in the Unknown Regions, seeking a way back to the galaxy to defeat the Rebellion once and for all. . .

Star Wars, Episode VII: The Rise of Thrawn

Peace has settled upon the galaxy. The Empire is ashes, and the Republic reigns. Chancellor Mon Mothma seeks re-election with the promise of reforming the Republic, squashing conflict on the Outer Rim, and eliminating corruption.

A violent war rages among the Five Crime Syndicates in the wake of Jabba the Hutt’s death. A mysterious assassin acts on behalf of Rotta the Hutt’s order, quietly stalking the violent Black Sun organization’s leadership.

In the Unknown Regions, Grand Admiral Thrawn nears completion of his plan to return to the Galaxy. He turns to Ezra Bridger, seeking his help one final time to enact his plans. . .

Star Wars, Episode VIII: The Shadow Empire

The Republic is in turmoil. Political unrest strikes the Core worlds, and rumors of Thrawn’s return stoke fear and mistrust.

Leia Organa and Luke Skywalker have failed in their efforts to discover Thrawn’s whereabouts. Ahsoka Tano crosses the galaxy, hoping to find the evil Grand Admiral before it is too late.

On the Outer Rim, the balance of power shifts as the Mandalorians reclaim Mandalore, and the Hutts gain the upper hand in the Syndicate War. A mysterious force emerges from the shadows, opening a door to a world between worlds. . .

Star Wars, Episode IX: The Imperator's Reckoning

The Chancellor is dead. Grand Admiral Thrawn has orchestrated a seamless coup of Republic governance, installing himself as Shadow Emperor and ruling from a high tower on Coruscant.

Leia Organa-Solo and her fearless bands of freedom fighters deliver the Noghri to salvation as she plots a desperate attempt to stop Thrawn before it is too late. Ezra Bridger heals, awaiting an uncertain reunion with his family.

Leia turns toward Mandalore, seeking a fragile alliance with the only remaining friends who recognize Thrawn for who he truly is. . .

  17. Summary

The Emperor took many things from Luke. His father. Working nerves. The thing he didn't expect though, was his hearing. It's unnerving, at first, with the near constant ringing and sudden muffled sounds of the world, nothing quite as it was. But then he adapts. He always does. That's what he tells himself anyways, that he adapts. It's not a lie per-se. But it's easier than trying to get it looked at five years down the line and facing Leia's disapproving scowl at learning he let it sit for so long.
And it's not too bad. He has the force. It's hard to catch him off guard.
    Until he meets the Mandalorian.

    Summary

    Anthology containing:

    Patience

It hadn't been a full day since they left Sorgan, and Din struggled to let the child out of his line of sight. The Crest wasn't a large ship, but the child was so small. Din couldn't bear to feel the way he had when a shot echoed across the krill pond, the sudden, terrible thought that the child had died.

He hadn't, of course, but it had brought to light the inescapable thought that Din's desire to protect the child was more than just perfunctory. He cared for him, and Din wanted to protect the child from further harm.

    May You Bloom and Grow

"S'cuy, Ad'ika," Din said quietly, letting the words he had told the child flow through his mind. The pledge of fatherhood hung softly on his heart; the formal ownership of the child's wellbeing had not been taken lightly.

It was only a sentence, a short one at that. But Din removed his helm and brought the child close to him, their foreheads touching, little claws gripping the scruff of Din's chin as he repeated the words over and over. He tried to tell the child how much he cared for him, loved him, even without words. His throat had thickened as the child's eyes widened at the sight. Din knew that he was nothing special to look at, but he hoped that the child wasn't disappointed.

If I Could Never Give You Peace

Every morning when he woke, it was the child who gripped Din's attention. Not the next bounty, not the stores or his injuries. But a small hand, three tiny claws gripping the hem of Din's tunic and warbling happily with half-closed eyes.
Din reached closer, pulling the child under the wrap of his cape. Space was cold, he reasoned to himself as he closed his eyes. And the child was so small, and Maker knows where he was before Din found him. Whoever he was, and whatever he was, Din was his father, and he loved the child with all of his heart.

    Farewell, O Farewell

"Are you still looking for your Jedi?" Cara asked carefully, taking another sip of her drink.
"Yes," Din said, fighting to keep his voice level. Since his meeting with Ahsoka Tano, Din had tried avoiding thinking about it. He knew that the child deserved what the Jedi had to offer; he could be reunited with his kind. Perhaps he'd be loved, even, trained and raised away from Din.
The thought was almost too much to bear; the moments he had spent with the baby on the Crest waiting for Ahsoka to return were the hardest he could remember. He had been willing to give the baby up, give him his best chance— even if it meant that Din would never see the child again.

It's Just a Dream I Had in Mind

For so long, Din fought the reality of giving the child up, giving him to the jetii and moving on. He had prepared for it, packed a bag and left it all behind, so his son could have the life he deserved.
All until he didn't have to.
Or the one where Luke rescues Grogu on Tython, and Din rescues Luke in return.

The Armourer once told Din that to be Mandalorian is to be both hunter and prey.

He's pretty sure this isn't quite what the Armourer meant.

According to his Creed, Din is now an apostate, dar'manda, no longer Mandalorian, yet he is also Mand'alor courtesy of a weird laser sword that he can't seem to get rid of.

In which Din tries to reconcile with his new titles, goes on a journey of self-discovery, and does his best to ignore the incessant ringing noise emanating from the blade on his belt which is only adding to his hatred of the darksaber (but that's ok because he’s starting to get the sense that the feeling is mutual).
