They grow up so fast. He was going to have to kill this child one day.
He tossed up his hands.
“We fucked,” he announced.

“Uh,” Peter started nervously, “I don’t mean to bring up bad, um, feelings. But, Double D. My people and I could really use the help. I’m scared that what happened to you will happen to me and I don’t have a Mr. Nelson or a Miss Claire to deal with it.”
Matt turned toward him and the light from the window bleached out the worst of his bruising. He tilted his head very slowly to the right, then sighed and cautiously levered himself up so he was sitting properly.
“Okay kid, look. I am—”
“A magnet for disaster?” Mr. Nelson offered.
(Double D takes a beating, Peter realizes that he needs to make a safety plan in case things go tits up for him too one day.)

The road between ten and fifteen had been a slow descent into bad and then worse.

Sam found out and wanted to know why the fuck two grown-ass men were teaming up with a teenager. He used the phrase “I smell a fucking rat.”

Peter thought about Mr. Stark telling him to be responsible with his powers. Then he thought about Wade recruiting Double D to time how long it took his hand to heal after he stabbed it with a knife. And then he remembered Double D agreeing to it even though he couldn’t read the stopwatch.
Stupider things had been done, he decided, and it’s not like a little ghost hunting was going to hurt anyone.
“Sure,” he told Ned with a grin, “Let’s go catch a ghost.”
(The Spiderman trio and the Daredevil trio meet up to go ghost-hunting, it goes about as well as you'd expect.)

“Hey let’s kill a man,” Red texted him out of the blue. That was unusual, Red didn’t like to text.
“Alright, let’s go,” Wade texted back, just to see what he’d do.
(Matt and Wade celebrate Jack's death day.)

“Aunt May played Celtic Women for fifteen minutes,” Peter offered her in return for this information, “All the old people sung along.” It had been cute in a weird, hippie kind of way.
They conceded that MJ was in the cool car.

Wade needed to lull this rat into a false sense of security. The rat-enthusiasts/heathens online believed that rats liked music, so he put Beethoven’s Für Elise on repeat and waited. When that elicited no response, he remembered that he was dealing with a New York rat, not a fucking Paris rat, so he blasted the Hamilton Mixtape, figuring that he’d hit the Broadway and rap vibes in one go.
(Wade accidentally acquires a pet and hates every second of it.)

The time Peter found Wade screaming, full-volume, at nothing ten stories up was the moment he realized that, despite all his advice and good-natured ribbing and his insistence that he had everything under control, Wade was not fucking okay. And that wasn’t going to change.

“How did you know you were gay, Double D?” Peter asked around Valentine’s Day, when Matt was having an existential crisis over whether to get Foggy an apology/Valentine’s Day present or whether to get two separate presents.

Double D snuffled into the rug and ignored the cup for a good ten seconds before the echolocation kicked in and he reached a hand out behind him to find it. Peter danced it out of his reach.
“Hey,” Miss Claire’s voice barked behind him. He froze. “What have I told you about doing that?”

“Rein in the evil, sugar. Pete, why don’t you go get your dad a cup of coffee before he commits homicide in broad daylight.”
(Team Red goes on an early morning, undercover mission to catch a pedophile.)

“Wade, you have a text message,” Peter told the man himself under the sink. All he could see were his legs and abs through the haze of pure hatred emanating from the cabinet.

“That’s your choice then,” Wade said. “But don’t drag the rest of us into it.”

Wade climbed up on the bar, while Weasel swore at him, and whistled to get people’s attention. It came, more or less undivided.
“Hey, any of you fucks lay one on Spiderman?” he called.
(Wade tries to track down someone he thinks hurt Peter.)

No amount of anticipation could have prepared him for the day when he called his best friend’s name and Peter didn’t answer back.
(Peter gets seriously hurt and Ned needs help. The others on Team Red come to lend a hand.)

Sam was pretty sure the guy on the other side of the line was having a breakdown. Wilson hung up and peeled the post-it away from its cousins. He held it out to Sam.
“You got your meeting,” he said, “But I’m giving you fair warning, he ain’t gonna be coherent. You want any use out of him, you’ll have to pin him down somewhere flat for at least an hour or two.”
A nap.
He had to make the fucking Devil of Hell’s Kitchen take a nap.(Sam Wilson needs the Devil for a mission but the Devil's nowhere to be found. Sam has to go through Wade and Peter to get ahold of him)

Wade had spoken to twelve vets and half the fucking block like a psychopath—a real, actual psychopath shaking people down for change, except instead of shaking people he was more like pleading. And instead of change, he was after his fucking cat.
(Wade's cat disappears and he comes home to find that Team Red and his A-Team are on a collision course.)

Foggy broke them up by vociferously admiring the progress Karen was making on her vomiting gourd. They all rallied around this artistic monument for a bit. May decided that everyone needed to drink hot cider and Matt waited, kindly and politely, until everyone was holding a drink and nervously giggling about the silliness that was The Conjuring.
“You wanna hear something actually scary?” he prompted to sudden silence.
(Matt opens up a bit to tell Team Red and friends a ghost story.)

“Mr. Stark wants to talk to you.”

(Wade gets a vape pen and Tony tries to put some distance between Peter and Team Red. It doesn't work.)

Sam stood his ground. Looked Wade in the eye.
“I hear you,” he said, “But I’m not sure I believe you. And that’s fine, man. That’s cool. It’s fucking hard to admit that you love those dumb fuckers when you know with certainty that they’ll die before you."

“You want something, pal?” he finally demanded. Barton grinned at him, pleased to be acknowledged.
“Yeah, wanna chat. Mind if I sit?” He gestured to the empty space next to Red.
Daredevil stared at him soulfully through his mask.
“Absolutely,” he said.
(Clint tries to flirt with Matt. The operative word here is 'tries.')

He looked up to see Double D holding out a green and black can.
It was a Monster. The kids at school drank them all the time; Abe from AcaDec drank them on the study days before competitions so he could cram for longer.
“May says those’re poison,” he noted.
“No, poison is poison,” Matt said simply, “These are friends."
(Peter discovers energy drinks. Wade has an abundance of feelings about it.)

The kid pouted and glared at him before hunkering back down. The cat purred and chirped to welcome him back. And he.

Tim and Damian make a bet before the family has to leave for the Kane family reunion, where Bruce dreads attending. At first, the bet was funny to watch but the family quickly becomes annoyed with the twos out of character tendencies. Or, Tim Drake becomes a neurotic health freak with self preservation and Damian perfects the art of puppy dog eyes and movies with talking animals.
Blankets and Sons
Out of all Bruce’s children, Jason was the easiest to deal with when he was sick. Dick whined and snapped even at Alfred. Tim has no sense of self preservation, so Bruce usually has to wait till Tim was in need or real attention. Cassandra was reluctant to take any medication if it was grape flavored. And Damian would snarl at any potential threat. But Jason was easy, Jason just wanted his dad and lots of blankets
Unlocked Doors and Opened Windows
Now that Selina is staying on the manor's grounds, she just doesn't understand why her fiancé won't close or shut the window and door. She's already told him why she hates it so much- the street smart mentality to bar your windows and triple lock the doors from any unwanted visitors. The bad people were the league of another universe. The Damian Wayne of that universe was a healthy, raised by Alfred and Bruce, never died, untrained ten year old. A world where Damian’s father refused to let his children out there until they were eighteen.
“You agreed to let this imbecile stay with us?” Damian asked his father who geared up.
“I’ve been to that universe. It is one of my more favorable ones, I agreed to help that Bruce. The league there is not familiar with interdimensional traveling,” Bruce explained. Damian frowned at the thought, oh well it’s only for a few hours.

Upon Damian’s arrival to the manor and within his run as Robin, he can agree that he was slightly cold and only engaged in touch if it were to battles. Since then he has made his own progress and adjusted to being the so called ‘Baby’ of the family as the media has pinned it. But the greatest adjustment he has had to make has been how his family does not find him to be a skilled warrior but some kind of pliable child to hold or throw or even worse… cuddle.
Damian did not understand the human instinct that if a family member that was younger was around then you should pull them into your lap. It made no sense whatsoever yet it occurred all the time and Damian seems to be helpless to stop it. He doesn’t even realize it occurs until it is too late. That is how serious this issue has become.
.... Or people keep pulling Damian into their laps and he's getting annoyed
A Brother In Need, A Brother Without, A City Falls
“Drake,” Damian’s voice sounded small.
“Does it hurt?” Tim asked, making out Damian’s figure a little better with the tad bit of light coming through from the morning. That meant sun was rising.
“Worse,” Damian cracked a tad, “I can’t feel it anymore.”
Tim swallowed hard trying to remember what that could mean.A lot of it is bad and the possibilities of it being good aren’t well known enough to Tim to truly voice. Besides, doesn’t Damian have the knowledge of a medical student- he already knows what it could mean and that’s why he sounds so blatantly fearful. Nothing Tim can say will take that fear or risk away. Tim grabbed the small hand.
