When Ash Ketchum was to set off on his journey across Kanto, the legendary Pokémon of the world were very interested to see how it would go. Arceus set a very simple ground rule: Nobody was to interfere. Ash was to have a normal journey without their shenanigans getting in the way. Of course, then they all found out that Ash had been freely chatting with the Kanto legendaries for nearly two months, some of them just couldn't leave well enough alone, and by the time Ash's journey was three weeks in he'd already indirectly saved the world. Things... kind of spiralled out of control from there.

Or: the legendary Pokémon have a chatroom and discuss disrupting canon as much as possible.

Alternatively or: the Ash Ketchum group chat that existed before any of his human friends ever joined.

  3. Summary

Pokémon adore Izuku, but pokéballs seem to hate the teen. And pokémon always get skittish whenever he hold one around them. He learns that trying to catch one would likely never work. He's just quirkless, worthless, partnerless Deku to the whole world. Having the Ranger's Curse is just the cherry on top, the inability to capture any pokémon, but the blessing of being able to befriend nearly all of the sentient creatures.

It's just too much one day when his classmates push him too far. He decided to run away from it all into the wilderness to escape the torture and discrimination that follows him. Hopefully, he'll manage to survive his impromptu sprint into the wilds in order to have a proper journey of his own: pokémon partner or not.

    After All These Years

If you told the ten-year-old Ash that in say, another ten years, he would be sitting at Professor Oak’s library feeding his former rival Gary Oak, now a renowned Pokémon fossil researcher, mushroom soup that he himself cooked; he would probably think you were insane.

But that was the thing about growing up; you grow up in ways you never expect to.

(Twenty-year-old Ash and Gary try to reconnect after years of not seeing each other, and discover how much things have changed between them, and how some things could still be the same.)

"Ash lost a lot of blood. A lot of blood. Lana looks down at her palms and even though they are scrubbed clean and bandaged with band-aids that have pictures of little fishes on them, she can still feel how it felt to have them covered in his blood. How it streamed down his face as he laid unconscious, dark and viscous and unstoppable."

Lana reflects on her near-death experience.

    Force of Nature

Following the events he went through in Kalos, Ash is really hoping he could spend some much needed time just resting and relaxing and showing Greninja around the beautiful beaches of Alola. But unfortunately, the world needs saving, again, and Ash is the only one who can help. Again.

    Anthology containing:

    Smell Ya Later

There's only one month left before Red and Blue receive their very first Pokemon. Professor Oak has only one condition; Stay out of trouble. Red isn't sure if he can manage that. Blue isn't sure if he can ever resist being dragged along for the ride.

Can be read as being a prequel of sorts to Mimic, but it's pretty much it's own thing. Based on the English translations of the main series games, so Green is Blue.

    Mimic

When Red and Blue head to Alola to take part in the Battle Tree tournament, it's a rare opportunity to spend time together after all the years that Red has trained at Mount Silver. Only Blue can't work out if he's happy to see his old rival again or not. He's definitely not happy to see that damn Pikachu again though.

Red/Blue. Purely based on the English translations of the main series games. (So yes, Green is Blue.)

    Mirror Coat

Blue finally managed to drag Red down from Mount Silver for good, and life couldn't be better. As they travel to the Galar region, Blue reckons it'll just be another exciting trip, discovering new Pokemon together. However, the appearance of an old acquaintance of Red throws the whole trip out of balance.

A sequel to Mimic. It can be read as a standalone, but you're still probably better off checking out Mimic first. Enjoy!

Might not be 4000% consistent with each other, but generally set in the same world! Playing fast and loose with my own fanon of an already kind of vague and inconsistent canon. It's freeform jazz, baby.

    Anthology containing:

    Peaks and Valleys

Blue is Kanto Champion for thirty-nine minutes.

That’s it. Technically, he’s part of the Hall of Fame, technically he’s an accepted Champion. Technically, the title was his once, so it will always be his. Technically, he can’t lose it. He just loses being the present Champion.

He also, briefly, held the Kanto record for youngest ever Pokemon League champion. That was until Red, three months younger, caught up to him.

Really, Blue hadn’t even been surprised.

    --
Blue loses the Championship, Red disappears up a mountain, and everything that happens afterwards.

Baby It's Cold Outside (because we're on an uninhabitable mountain)

‘Uh, look, I don’t want to be the downer here, but are you sure he’ll even appreciate this?’

Red’s Mom stared at Blue, the kind of million-yard gaze both her and her son were such experts in.

‘It’s Winterstar,’ she said simply, tone completely calm, but her grip tightened on the gift in her hands, crinkling the paper. She glanced down, smoothed down the wrapping, and then thrust it into Blue’s hands.

‘I don’t think my son would enjoy being alone on Winterstar,’ she said, simply, ‘Even he doesn’t like his solitude that much.’

Blue sighed, running a hand through his hair. He didn’t come back from Kalos for winter break for this. Running around delivering Red his care packages wasn’t exactly his idea of a good time.
    -
Blue visits Red over the holidays.

    Daisy's Great Idea

‘I swear, I will only be gone for two hours.’

Daisy stares at her little brother, and can see he's not convinced. He’s doing what he thinks is his most winning smile - the one he used to practice in the mirror as a kid - and that means he’s nervous. She isn’t sure if Red is too, but she never knows what's going through his head.

‘Just. Isn’t M around to babysit?' Blue asks, rubbing a hand through his hair, ‘This is more her scene.’

Daisy rolls her eyes, bouncing her daughter in her arms.

‘Masami has been helping me practice! She wants to see me up there. Besides, she always babysits,’ she says. She’s sure that Blue just thinks Red’s mother is some kind of Ultra-Mom with no interests outside of babying people. From his perspective, that probably seems true, but only because he requires so much babying.
    --
    Blue babysits his niece.

    Regret

Blue wasn’t often awake before Red. Red was usually out of bed at 5am sharp, off to do his morning training regime. He would run himself and his Pokémon ragged for two hours exactly before returning to shower, drink a protein shake, set up a percolator of coffee, and wait for Blue to stagger out of bed, whining for caffeine. There were rare exceptions, but that was usually the routine.

    This was one exception.

Blue woke up at 4:12am with something horrible travelling from his gut to the back of his mouth, a headache that felt like a steel bar being wrapped around his skull, and a throat so dry he was sure he hadn’t seen a fluid in twenty years.

Stumbling out of bed, he rushed to the ensuite, dropping to his knees and emptying what felt like the entire contents of his body into the toilet.
    -
Blue is sick, Red is dealing with it.

Red's Halfway House for Troubled Trainers

‘Are you sure you’ll be okay by yourself for a few weeks?’

It’s the fifteenth time Blue has asked, and it’s starting to get on Red’s nerves. Something must show on his face, because Blue waves a hand, sighing.

‘It’s not that. I know you can take care of yourself,’ he shrugs, and then rests a hand gently on the cast on Red’s leg, ‘It’s this.’

Red glances down, frowning. His frown deepens at the signatures scrawled across the plaster – he’d initially tried to stop people from doing it, didn’t like the messiness, but a couple of the Battle Tree regulars did it anyway. As always, people really didn’t get ‘no’. Eventually, he gave in.

Even though Blue signed last, he managed to take up the most space.

‘I can cancel,’ Blue offers, again, but his heart is not in it. He’s been looking forward to this. They’ve been looking forward to this.

The plan had been Kalos, for four weeks. Blue had gotten an invitation to take part in a research tour, an expedition of the mountains. Naturally, Red had been immediately invited, with the plan to extend the expedition to a more personal tour of the country afterwards.

    Then, Red broke his leg.
    --
Blue goes away for a few weeks.

    Under Emergency Measures

It was no good – the wall of snow outside the door had jammed it closed. Not even Machamp could force his way through – at least, not without threatening to bring Masami’s entire house down around them. Blue leaned looked about at the windows, contemplating the upper floor. A kid could maybe wiggle out of the window in Red’s old room, but that was about it. Even then, the storm outside would make it dangerous.

Next to him, Red grabbed Charizard’s Pokéball from his best.

“Good idea,” Blue said, getting ready to send Arcanine out himself.

    “Oh no you don’t!”

Masami appeared between them, seizing her son and Blue by the arm. Although they now both towered over her, her grip was just as firm as it had been when they were six years old.
    --
Red and Blue are snowed in.

    Unfortunately, so are their parents.

    Heading North

Sinnoh was ridiculously cold. Blue knew he’d just gotten used to the tropical Alolan climate, but he honestly did not know how people lived up here!

Red, naturally, was in his element. The cold suited him, as did how sparsely populated and trecherous must of Sinnoh was. He looked to be itching to get up Mt Coronet and start their research expedition already.

Cynthia must have spotted him looking longingly at the horizon because she laughed.

“Oh, yes, we’ll be heading up there soon,” she said, and then grimaced, “but there are materials I need to get from someone at Eterna University first.”
    --
Blue and Red spend some time in Sinnoh.

Your love has come home (And so has your worst enemy)

    “Lillie’s coming back!”

Hau practically couldn’t keep both feet on the floor. The second he’d torn open the letter he’d taken one look at it and tossed it into the air, whooping and swinging Moon around by her arm.

Moon knew she should be just as happy. In fact, she’d be happier. Yet for some reason all that happened was a cold pit of dread opened in her stomach, everything else falling through.

Seeing Lillie was going to be hard, after all this time, but that wasn’t what made her feel so cold.

The problem was who Lillie would bring with her.
    --
Lillie is coming back to Alola. Moon isn't sure how to feel about it.

His name is Red and he watches from the stands

When Blue accepted to an offer from former Champion Leon to come to Galar to do some exhibition matches for the new Battle Tower, he had just been sort of imagining a smaller Unova. He didn’t relaly know much about Galar – it was fairly small, after all, and didn’t really have a particularly close relationship to either Kanto or Alola. Mostly, all that came to mind when somebody said ‘Galar’ to him was fish and chips, wizard novels, and Dynamax battles. It was only the latter, really, either he or Red were particularly interested in.

It turned out there was a lot more to see in Galar than he’d anticipated.

    giving notice

Peter and May receive a notice to vacate.

The other guys on Team Red have been there before, they offer a bit of advice.

    lighting up brimstone

"I guess that means that whatever happened to him probably happened when he was Daredevil and probably happened with the last person he was with,” Spidey looked at him calmly, “And you just said that that was you.”

They grow up so fast. He was going to have to kill this child one day.

    He tossed up his hands.

    “We fucked,” he announced.

    on a scale of 1 to 10

“Uh,” Peter started nervously, “I don’t mean to bring up bad, um, feelings. But, Double D. My people and I could really use the help. I’m scared that what happened to you will happen to me and I don’t have a Mr. Nelson or a Miss Claire to deal with it.”

Matt turned toward him and the light from the window bleached out the worst of his bruising. He tilted his head very slowly to the right, then sighed and cautiously levered himself up so he was sitting properly.

    “Okay kid, look. I am—”

“A magnet for disaster?” Mr. Nelson offered.

(Double D takes a beating, Peter realizes that he needs to make a safety plan in case things go tits up for him too one day.)

    small potatoes

The road between ten and fifteen had been a slow descent into bad and then worse.

(Matt had a hard time in foster-care. It affects the way he relates to Peter.)

    just roll with it

Peter swore up and down that the guy was legit and MJ needed an internship, so she ended up only slightly bullying her way into interning for Mr. Matthew Murdock, Attorney at Law that summer.

And really, she was bestowing her grace upon him because Jesus. Christ. It was so much more work than it was worth.

    (MJ meets the team)

    smashing pumpkins

Sam found out and wanted to know why the fuck two grown-ass men were teaming up with a teenager. He used the phrase “I smell a fucking rat.”

(Steve, Sam, and Buck find out about Peter's new team members want to make sure Peter's not in danger. There is no need for concern.)

    ain't afraid of no ghost!

Peter thought about Mr. Stark telling him to be responsible with his powers. Then he thought about Wade recruiting Double D to time how long it took his hand to heal after he stabbed it with a knife. And then he remembered Double D agreeing to it even though he couldn’t read the stopwatch.

Stupider things had been done, he decided, and it’s not like a little ghost hunting was going to hurt anyone.

“Sure,” he told Ned with a grin, “Let’s go catch a ghost.”

(The Spiderman trio and the Daredevil trio meet up to go ghost-hunting, it goes about as well as you'd expect.)

    daddy issues

“Hey let’s kill a man,” Red texted him out of the blue. That was unusual, Red didn’t like to text.

“Alright, let’s go,” Wade texted back, just to see what he’d do.

(Matt and Wade celebrate Jack's death day.)

    its complicated

“I’m not in love with my best friend,” Red defended, “I am royally, and probably perpetually, cursed to die sad and alone.”

Spidey read this for what it actually was and went straight for the jugular.

“So are you just never gonna tell him or what?”

(Wade teaches Peter about the complexities of super-people relationships. Matt and Foggy are his case study.)

    like batman though

“I don’t know about you nerds, but I have just witnessed the best version of Toxic in existence. I’m going to form a karaoke team and we are going to win everything,” she informed them.

“Aunt May played Celtic Women for fifteen minutes,” Peter offered her in return for this information, “All the old people sung along.” It had been cute in a weird, hippie kind of way.

They conceded that MJ was in the cool car.

    (Team Red goes camping)

six for the price of none

Wade needed to lull this rat into a false sense of security. The rat-enthusiasts/heathens online believed that rats liked music, so he put Beethoven’s Für Elise on repeat and waited. When that elicited no response, he remembered that he was dealing with a New York rat, not a fucking Paris rat, so he blasted the Hamilton Mixtape, figuring that he’d hit the Broadway and rap vibes in one go.

(Wade accidentally acquires a pet and hates every second of it.)

    not all roses

The time Peter found Wade screaming, full-volume, at nothing ten stories up was the moment he realized that, despite all his advice and good-natured ribbing and his insistence that he had everything under control, Wade was not fucking okay. And that wasn’t going to change.

(Team Red struggles with mental illness; they do their damnedest to work with it.)

    but how do you know?

“How did you know you were gay, Double D?” Peter asked around Valentine’s Day, when Matt was having an existential crisis over whether to get Foggy an apology/Valentine’s Day present or whether to get two separate presents.

(Matt fumbles his way through a gender/sexual identity talk.)

    counting sheep

Double D snuffled into the rug and ignored the cup for a good ten seconds before the echolocation kicked in and he reached a hand out behind him to find it. Peter danced it out of his reach.

“Hey,” Miss Claire’s voice barked behind him. He froze. “What have I told you about doing that?”

    bet your bottom dollar

“Rein in the evil, sugar. Pete, why don’t you go get your dad a cup of coffee before he commits homicide in broad daylight.”

(Team Red goes on an early morning, undercover mission to catch a pedophile.)

    and the kitchen sink

“Wade, you have a text message,” Peter told the man himself under the sink. All he could see were his legs and abs through the haze of pure hatred emanating from the cabinet.

    (Wade and Foggy trade favors.)

    state your business

    “I can’t think like that.”

“That’s your choice then,” Wade said. “But don’t drag the rest of us into it.”

(Equality and justice are two different things; Matt and Wade try to explain with varying levels of success.)

    getting heavy

Wade climbed up on the bar, while Weasel swore at him, and whistled to get people’s attention. It came, more or less undivided.

“Hey, any of you fucks lay one on Spiderman?” he called.

(Wade tries to track down someone he thinks hurt Peter.)

    go hard

No amount of anticipation could have prepared him for the day when he called his best friend’s name and Peter didn’t answer back.

(Peter gets seriously hurt and Ned needs help. The others on Team Red come to lend a hand.)

    when you need the devil

Sam was pretty sure the guy on the other side of the line was having a breakdown. Wilson hung up and peeled the post-it away from its cousins. He held it out to Sam.

“You got your meeting,” he said, “But I’m giving you fair warning, he ain’t gonna be coherent. You want any use out of him, you’ll have to pin him down somewhere flat for at least an hour or two.”

    A nap.
He had to make the fucking Devil of Hell’s Kitchen take a nap.

(Sam Wilson needs the Devil for a mission but the Devil's nowhere to be found. Sam has to go through Wade and Peter to get ahold of him)

    making muffins

Wade had spoken to twelve vets and half the fucking block like a psychopath—a real, actual psychopath shaking people down for change, except instead of shaking people he was more like pleading. And instead of change, he was after his fucking cat.

(Wade's cat disappears and he comes home to find that Team Red and his A-Team are on a collision course.)

    penny for your thoughts

Foggy broke them up by vociferously admiring the progress Karen was making on her vomiting gourd. They all rallied around this artistic monument for a bit. May decided that everyone needed to drink hot cider and Matt waited, kindly and politely, until everyone was holding a drink and nervously giggling about the silliness that was The Conjuring.

“You wanna hear something actually scary?” he prompted to sudden silence.

(Matt opens up a bit to tell Team Red and friends a ghost story.)

    make me, old man

“Mr. Stark wants to talk to you.”

    Ah, fuck.

(Wade gets a vape pen and Tony tries to put some distance between Peter and Team Red. It doesn't work.)

    on your marks

Peter was guarding a tennis ball with his life.

(Team Red joins a city-wide game of Vigilante-Keep-Away. It quickly turns into a nightmare.)

    superglue

Sam stood his ground. Looked Wade in the eye.

“I hear you,” he said, “But I’m not sure I believe you. And that’s fine, man. That’s cool. It’s fucking hard to admit that you love those dumb fuckers when you know with certainty that they’ll die before you."

    thimble of liquor

“You want something, pal?” he finally demanded. Barton grinned at him, pleased to be acknowledged.

“Yeah, wanna chat. Mind if I sit?” He gestured to the empty space next to Red.

Daredevil stared at him soulfully through his mask.

    “Absolutely,” he said.

(Clint tries to flirt with Matt. The operative word here is 'tries.')

    lobster rolls

He looked up to see Double D holding out a green and black can.

It was a Monster. The kids at school drank them all the time; Abe from AcaDec drank them on the study days before competitions so he could cram for longer.

“May says those’re poison,” he noted.

“No, poison is poison,” Matt said simply, “These are friends."

(Peter discovers energy drinks. Wade has an abundance of feelings about it.)

    happy cows

The kid pouted and glared at him before hunkering back down. The cat purred and chirped to welcome him back. And he.
    Chirped.
    Back.
    Wade was dying.
He—someone—he needed to do something. Tell someone. Holy shit. Holy shit. No one would believe him.

    can't always fly

    Peter stood up.

The tension in the room went as taut as a pulled thread.

He picked up his bag, and wordlessly walked out.

(MJ watches Peter struggle with bullying at school. When he finally cracks, she and Ned get scared and go try to find him some help.)
