    Summary

    Anthology containing:

    Improvise. Adapt. Overcome.

Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano are captured by the Mandalorian Empire on a mission to protect Padme Amidala. The good news is: they all succesfully hide their identities so they easily escape the Integration centre, they get forced into, which was not adapted to keep Jedi trapped. The bad news: none of them are very good at keeping a low profile. At all.

“Barriss Offee is one of Ahsoka’s new classmates.”
    “Is she…?”
“...integrated?” Ahsoka finished his question. “Yes but she still promised she wouldn’t tell on us being here.”
    “Could she be lying?”
“Sure, but what could we do about it?”
“I got promoted,” Anakin tried to hide his enthusiasm. “I am now allowed to repair beskar'gam for the palace guard.”
Padme rubbed her eyes. “Well talking about promotions… I guess I am now the president of the parent teacher association of Ahsoka's school.”
Obi-Wan sighed. “How did every single one of us managed to make our situation even worse than it already was?”
Anakin looked at him with narrowed eyes. “Every single one of us?”
Obi-Wan closed his eyes, took a deep breath and answered. “I slept with the Mand’alor’s son.”
    “YOU DID WHAT?”

    What makes a home

Alternative ending to the story of “Improvise. Adapt. Overcome.”

Due to a lucky meeting with an ally Obi-Wan, Anakin, Padme and Ahsoka manage to flee Keldabe before they are discovered, but they do not receive a warm welcome in the galactic Republic.

Was leaving really the right decision?

This takes place before chapter 12 of “Improvise. Adapt. Overcome.”

The weapons pointed at him didn't terrify him, Plo wasn't afraid of death, but... it wasn't just him. He could still feel dozens of presences in the Force behind him, and he knew that none of them could evacuate now that the Mandalorian ships surrounded them.

    This was the end.

"Surrender," demanded the leader, who had done a fine job of taking the Temple without even trying to bomb them alive.

Plo sighed and lowered his weapon.

    "We surrender."

It hasn’t even been one day since getting to the station and Izuku has somehow managed to find himself careening into the endless abyss that is space in a small pod he doesn’t know how to fly. Oh, look, aliens, maybe they’ll… or maybe they’ll just lock him space prison… At least he’s not alone, not that he knows any Common yet. Why does everyone seem so tense?

Follow Izuku as he tries to navigate through space and the many aliens and obstacles that inhabit it! We have familiar faces such as obligatory cat-alien Dadzawa and his bird-alien mate DadMic! Re-explore themes such as language barriers and Humans being BAMF from Space Australia! This work is inspired heavily by other MHA stories in the "Humans are Space Orcs" tab, but I hope to bring some originality to the community as soon as Izuku can make his way off the alien pirate ship!

This day was not going as you had planned.
It probably was not going as planned for these travellers you had started to follow around either, because there was no way you would stay somewhere full to the brim with monsters alone and unprotected - dream or no dream. And well, some company is better than none.
Even when they only communicate in "Hya"s.

A modern day person unexpectedly finds themselves thrown into Hyrule, where they run into the Links.

    Summary

The Heroes of Courage are spread across ages. Hundreds to thousands of years between them. It should come as no surprise that they are having some trouble communicating. But when they’re dropped in a world of alien technology and a language wholly unfamiliar, they really wish Hylia had thought ahead.

A series focused on portraying a semi-realistic depiction of Wild actually being from 10,000 years in the future.

    Anthology containing:

    Language Barriers

The group made their way over to the two Hylians, where the individual they had rushed to save was conversing with the newcomer. The newcomer was heavily scarred on his left side, and from the bow on his back, he was the archer who had brought down many of the monsters.

“Hello,” Time said, as he nodded to them. “Could you point us toward Castle Town?”

    The scarred man blinked. “Nanda?”

    …

The Heroes of Courage are spread across ages. Hundreds to thousands of years between them. It should come as no surprise that they are having some trouble communicating. But when they’re dropped in a world of alien technology and a language wholly unfamiliar, they really wish Hylia had thought ahead.

Or, the gang-meets-wild fic in which there is an appropriate amount of linguistic drift between Links, Hylia does not provide Google Translate, and Wild is a linguaphile among other things.

    Adventures in Sign(ed) Language(s)

Most of the Links have, at some point in their lives, been selectively mute and communicated through sign language. However, signed languages evolve just as much as spoken ones.

Link introduces the Chain to his Zora friend Shizumi, who in turn introduces the Chain to the sign language of Hyrule.

A cut scene from “Language Barriers”

When Some Names are Object Nouns and Others are Abstract Concepts

The Chain decide to try and teach Rinku (aka Link aka Wild) the meanings of their names. This proves much harder than any of them realize. And so begins the greatest game of charades in Hyrule’s history.

A cut scene from “Language Barriers”

    Cultural Differences

    “What happened? To your world?”

Wild pursed his lips, staring into the distance as some memory the others couldn’t see played out in front of him. “Yakusai,” he eventually said in a hushed tone. “It is death. Many…” Wild paused, brows furrowed as he parsed through the sentence. “Many killed. No victory. Yet… we live.”

    ...

The Chain has expanded their ranks by one member, and Link has a new name: Wild. But even with Wild on his way to learning the language of the other Heroes, he still has a long way to go, and their new ability to communicate opens the doors for a host of other problems. Ten thousand years is a long time, and what is “normal” changes.

Or, the Chain discover the differences in culture (and place) between them. Includes miscommunication and language exploration, sentient rocks, potion-making, memorials, old legends and much more.

Where’s a Jabbernut When You Need It?

“¡Manos fuera! ¡Prenderás fuego al bosque!”

Link groaned as the irritated voice grated against his ears, the words utterly intelligible. It had been three days since he’d been dropped in a field together with eight others, and in the most marvelous twist of divine comedy, none of them spoke the same language.

    …

Or, Language Barriers, but it's on hard mode.

    More Light than Heat

If everything went according to plan, Luke would be engaged by the end of the day. He would meet his husband today. He didn’t even know what he looked like.
    ~*~*~
In an effort to help the recovering planet Mandalore, the Republic agrees to an arranged marriage between the Mand'alor and one of their most eligible bachelors: Luke Skywalker, son of Padme and Anakin. The only hurdle in this match is that the Mand'alor does not speak basic, and Luke does not speak Mando'a.

    Morning Light

Inside their room, the universe felt like it was at peace. How could anything in the galaxy be wrong when so much light and beauty existed in it? Outside their room, though, life continued in its messy and inconvenient patterns. And those inconveniences decided it was time to come knocking at their door.
    ~*~
Set after the events of "More Light than Heat."

    Fire in Midday

    “You missed me?” He asked.

“More than you know,” Din said back.
    ~*~*

Elves go bonkers over children. Children are precious, gentle beings that are so rare it's a miracle that one is born. Elves think children need to be coddled and protected. So how would they react if they found an elven child who was fiercely independent, borderline savage, and only liked one person in the whole settlement who was just as standoffish and distant from everyone like she is?

Or: I can't promise you much, but I can promise you an unconventional LOTR OC that is a) not a Tenth Walker, b) not in love with Legolas, and c) says the word 'fuck' with regularity.

    Summary

A collection of all my Linked Universe crack fics.
[considered complete; i likely won't be writing any more one-shots for LU for the foreseeable future. thank you to all who have supported the existing works in the series!]

    Anthology containing:

    Controls and Mechanics

Every Link had his own set of dynamics he was bound to—resulting in things like Sky’s ability to fall asleep anywhere without warning, or Wild’s incapability to keep his head on straight, or Legend’s eternal confusion over which button did what again, dammit?

The Links didn’t always understand each other’s strange actions, but they were a family nonetheless.

(A study in some of the stranger, um, qualities the Links have.)

a foot tall, easily shattered, and utterly captivating

The Links discover something beautiful, and are all equal parts transfixed and desperate to take it—or, more accurately, destroy it themselves.

    Hyrule is just confused.

Definitely, Absolutely, Without A Doubt Not Suspicious At All

The travellers of Wild’s Hyrule were truly strange people—going around talking to random people about the weather, selling overpriced bananas, and even telling fortunes (for free!). Wild insisted on speaking to every single one of them. For completely sensible reasons, of course.

(Or: six times a Link reacted to Wild’s strange interactions with, em, “travellers”, and two times a Link dealt with the “travellers” before Wild even had the chance.)

    Threats and Theatrics

"I did a stupid fucking thing," Shadow said bluntly, wincing. "I need your help."

Four, when faced with a friend in need, is more than happy to provide that help—possible betrayal of several parties, spontaneous dramatic performances, and a general path of chaos left in his wake aside. Well, at least nobody could ever say that he didn't go all out.

    Swords and Spotlights

    “So. We got found out.”

    Vio nodded. “We did.”

“Huh,” Shadow said, leaning with his back against the wall, in such a position that Vio was—for a moment—concerned for the continuing health of his spine. “I mean, it is Dark Link. Did we really stand a chance?”

Vio sighed. “Not really, no… Why did you bring me into this, again?”

    —
(or: threats and theatrics, a continuation)

Effective Communication; Or The Lack Thereof

“Sorry, I don’t seem to understand.”

Side effects of 'All My Friends Are From Different Eras Because Of Time Travel' include: differences in cultures leading to accidental insult of several monarchies; not quite knowing how old one is due to having left the stretch of time relative to one's age; and, as the Links would come to realise, regular miscommunications due to spoken language varying rather largely between eras.

(Or: The Links reflect on the language barriers that exist between them, and the issues in communication that those barriers often cause.)

The Unfortunate Perils of Technically Being A Criminal

    “Um.”

Legend turned to Hyrule, who was looking at an old billboard in the outskirts of his time’s Castletown―

“Isn’t this wanted poster…” Hyrule began, frowning as his eyes drifted between Legend and the poster, and widening his eyes almost comically as he caught a glimpse of the bounty on it, “for you…?”

Legend froze. Slowly, he turned his head to look at the poster in its entirety, proceeded to spend fifteen good seconds staring at what was definitely a younger version of him drawn on there, and winced.

“Well,” he began, before hesitating. “I can explain.”

    —
(or: Legend has technically been a criminal in the Kingdom of Hyrule since his first adventure. Naturally, travelling with a group of eight other people and occasionally landing in his own time, this fact finds its way into revealing itself—no matter how hard Legend tries to prevent it.)

A Simple Guide to Exploiting Customer Service Schemes

“Hello, this is IKEA customer service, how may I help you?”

Legend looked over the online instruction documents once again—a final check—before turning his attention to the phone at his ear. “Hi, yes, I’m calling about a few missing parts...”

    —
(Legend is in need of a new shelving unit—however, he lacks the funds to buy one for himself. It's a good thing that IKEA's customer service is always happy to provide missing parts when required and, technically, when you don't own an item of furniture, all the pieces are "missing", right...?)

the damning deceptions of a perceived doppelgänger

They look exactly the same, Warriors realises.

Or, well. They look exactly the same in the way that it matters. Their hair colours are complete contrasts of one another; the way they dress is as different as night and day, much like their personalities; and their eye colours might be different, but that might just be his faded memories talking.

But none of that changes the fact that Legend, one of these other heroes that Warriors has just met, and Ravio, the friendly merchant with enough tools and firepower to cheese his way through the war against Cia, have the exact same face.

Only one conclusion can be drawn. Legend and Ravio are, in fact, the same person—and now Warriors is tasked with trying to keep Legend’s supposed future self a secret, lest he fuck up the future even more than it’s already been fucked up.

    Joys.

    Summary

In September of 1971, Severus Snape finds a forgotten portrait of the Slytherin family in a dark corner of the Slytherin Common Room. At the time, he has no idea that talking portrait will affect the rest of his life.

On 31st July 1995, Harry Potter disappears from Little Whinging a few minutes after midnight. The means of his departure are unfathomable, and the Order's only relief in their concern is the fact that Voldemort was not responsible.

The rest of Wizarding Britain is too busy tearing down their Wizarding Savior via the press to be much concerned, at least until certain Slytherin allies decide that enough is fucking well enough.
