The Fragile House of Black Anthology by Fantismal, Jormandugr
Fandoms: Harry Potter - J. K. Rowling
26 Oct 2023
Summary
Following the lives of Sirius and (to a lesser extent) Regulus Black as they navigate their family, Hogwarts, and the first wizarding war.
Everything follows the story as you know it... until Kreacher decides the young Master Regulus is not going to die tomorrow.
Anthology containing:
1948: Sirius Phineas by Fantismal
This fic is dark. It does not need to be read to understand the rest of the series, but it adds more color to the history of the Black Family. It is first in this series because of its chronological placement, but feel free to skip and come back (or never come back at all).
Sirius Phineas Black was the Head of the Black Family from 1925 to 1952. During those 27 years, he terrorized nearly every member of the Family and drove them to a deeper insanity than they'd had before.
Alphard Black had a particular hatred for his great-uncle Sirius. This is just the start of why.
Important by Fantismal
Sirius Black's earliest memory is from when he was two, a promise he made to his father and his baby brother.
(These early stories do not need to be read in order)
"Muggle" isn't a Dirty Word by Fantismal
It's 1966, and six-year-old Sirius Black (almost seven!) wants a new broomstick. When his mummy won't buy it for him, he'll go get it himself!
Except he runs the wrong way out of the Leaky Cauldron and ends up lost in Muggle London.
When the muggles don't actually eat him the way he fears, Sirius does some investigating and learns more about the world than what his parents taught him. Unfortunately, only one person is willing to listen to his discoveries.
(These early stories do not need to be read in order)
Thirteen by Fantismal
Pollux Black had always been an odd duck among the Black Family. They pulled him back into line when he was young, but he's watching history repeat itself with his oldest grandson.
If they forced him into Family loyalty, then Pollux was going to show them what it meant to actually be loyal to his family.
(The series is in chronological order. It does not need to be read in that order.)
The Last Initiation by Fantismal & Jormandugr
Cygnus Black was chosen to help with his favorite nephew's initiation into the Black Family wizards. All he had to do was cast a couple Unforgivables on an 11-year-old Regulus Black. Simple, really.
After leaving Regulus sorely disappointed, Cygnus gets a glimpse of the future from his disgraced older brother.
Ever hate this family, Cygnet?
(These early stories do not need to be read in order)
What is Love? by Fantismal & Jormandugr
The first time Sirius ran away from home, Effie Potter caught him and fed him biscuits.
The second time Sirius ran away from home, Effie Potter held him and told him he was safe with her.
The last time Sirius ran away from home, he had burnt every bridge he'd ever built and nearly gotten his best friends killed. He could only hope Effie would help him anyway.
(These early stories do not need to be read in order)
Of Fathers and Sons by Fantismal
Orion Black is learning how (not) to be a father, but it's too little, too late.
Sirius Black is learning how to be a son, but it's so much, all at once.
Fleamont and James Potter already know all of this.
(Set after the Shrieking Shack incident and Sirius' run away from home. Makes the most sense if you read What is Love? first, but no other stories in this series are required reading for this one.)
Reunions and Revelations by Fantismal & Jormandugr
After the Shrieking Shack Incident and running away from home, Sirius' life is making some pretty dramatic changes. He's starting this new chapter with an apology to the friend he wronged the most: Remus Lupin.
"I'm sorry" isn't strong enough, but maybe, just maybe, revealing the animagus transformation and spending a full moon with the werewolf could be?
(This series is in chronological order but does not need to be read in that order. What is Love? and Of Fathers and Sons are suggested reading before this one, but neither are required to understand it.)
Moments of Happiness by Fantismal
As their last DADA class before OWLs, the fifth years are taught the Patronus Charm as just a bit of fun. It's the first time Sirius finds himself struggling with magic. James and Snape both manage to pull it off, though. Don't matching Patronuses mean love?
This fic can stand alone. You do not need to read any of the rest of the series to understand it
Heartbreaker by Fantismal & Jormandugr
The war is creeping closer to Hogwarts. At least one student has already been attacked in the halls. But when Remus accidentally rips open a wound from Sirius' past, he doesn't know how to stop the bleeding.
Thankfully, Sirius is now safe with the Potters. Effie, Monty, and James all take it in turns to help him heal.
(This series is in chronological order but does not need to be read in that order. Thirteen is suggested reading either before or after this one, as the two deal with the same event.)
Second Chances by Fantismal
Alphard Black is dying. He wants to see his disowned nephew one last time. He has something very important he needs to ask Sirius before he goes.
(This series is in chronological order but does not need to be read in that order. 1948: Sirius Phineas helps flesh out a bit more of Alphard's past. "Muggle" isn't a Dirty Word and What is Love? are also suggested reading.)
For the Love of Sirius Black by Fantismal
“Why the hell is he hooking up with Llewellyn when you are right there?” Peter demanded.
“Because he’s curious!” Remus blew up at his fringe, trying to get it out of his eyes. “He was wondering if maybe the reason he’s so bored with all the girls is because he likes guys, and all because of bloody David Llewellyn!”
“Did he tell you that?” Peter asked, looking over for Remus’ nod. “And you didn’t offer!?”
It's Sirius' last year at Hogwarts, and the gay population at Hogwarts has decided they have to make a move before he graduates. Unfortunately, Remus did not make that move first, and now he's left watching as Sirius has a secret gay awakening without him.
What's a lonely young werewolf to do?
(This series is in chronological order but does not need to be read in that order. The first chapter of Heartbreaker is suggested reading before this story.)
Loyalty by Fantismal
“You can’t hate an entire species!”
“I do, though.”
“Even Remus?”
Peter closed his eyes. “A little bit,” he admitted.
“Remus is your best friend,” Sirius said slowly. “He had nothing to do with the attack. You were with him the whole time! You know that!”
“And I keep thinking that if I hadn’t been, I could’ve done something.”
Peter Pettigrew was not the strongest wizard, or the smartest, or the bravest, or the most handsome. But he did know what it meant to be loyal to your friends. And for nearly seven years, Peter and the Marauders were nothing but loyal to each other.
That all started to unravel when they had to choose between one Marauder's pain and another's innocence.
Every villain needs an origin story.
This is Peter's.
(This series is in chronological order but does not need to be read in that order. For the Love of Sirius Black is suggested reading before this story, but it is not required to understand what's going on.)
Of Fathers and Second Sons by Fantismal & Jormandugr
“If you threatened someone, how long would you wait before you followed through?”
Even though Alphard was dead and gone, Orion could imagine how he would have answered, his blue eyes wicked over his cup of tea, lips curling up like his father’s, like his nephew’s. Precisely as long as needed to make them squirm, and then just a bit more.
Orion sighed. “You are not helpful.”
When Lord Voldemort asks you to do something for him, you better know what you're doing before you throw him out of your house. Orion Black has made a mistake, and now he must cut off Voldemort's ability to end Regulus' life as retaliation.
Except it wasn't the first mistake Orion had made. And he's running out of time to fix things.
(This series is in chronological order but does not need to be read in that order. No other stories in this series are required reading, but all are suggested to flesh out the backstory.)
Sacrifice a Pawn by Fantismal
He’d like to say it was the final straw as well as the first straw, and all the ones in the middle, for good measure. He’d like to say that Kreacher’s tale of pain and fear and abandonment, of horrible mistreatment at the hands of a master, was the first time the Dark Lord’s true character showed itself.
But Regulus wasn’t blind. Nor was he stupid.
Regulus Black is eighteen years old. He has no father, no uncle, no brother he can depend on. All he has is a battered house elf and the knowledge that the Dark Lord has created something so evil, it cannot be allowed to exist.
What is the last son of the Noble and Most Ancient House of Black to do?
(This series is in chronological order but does not need to be read in that order. Of Fathers and Second Sons is suggested reading before this story, but it is not required to understand what's going on.)
Power the Dark Lord Knows Not by Fantismal & Jormandugr
“Regulus,” Sirius finally said, once he trusted he had his own voice under control, “has never once let me help him, even before I was a filthy blood-traitor. Why the fuck do you think I’d be able to save him now?”
Tomorrow night. Kreacher’s words throbbed inside his head. Regulus will die tomorrow night.
Sirius definitely wasn’t going to be getting any sleep at all this week.
Sirius thought he had cut all ties with his family, but when Kreacher shows up in his bedroom with a dire warning, he's hardly able to let his idiot little brother die. And when he learns about the Horcrux his brother was chasing, he's hardly about to let him take on Voldemort alone.
But getting tangled up in the House of Black again is not the best way to prove his innocence among an already-suspicious Order. Sirius has to walk a fine line if he wants to keep everyone he loves alive.
(This series is in chronological order but does not need to be read in that order. NO other stories in this series are required reading, but all are suggested to flesh out the backstory.)
The Ring by Fantismal & Jormandugr
Contains spoilers for Power the Dark Lord Knows Not. Read that first (but no other stories in this series are required reading)!
After the war is over, what's left of the Black family is trying to recover. Regulus is now the master of the Resurrection Stone, and sometimes, talking to those you loved and lost is exactly what the Healer ordered.
The Madness of Herakles by Fantismal & Jormandugr
Gideon and Fabian Prewett, tied for #1 Uncle (according to the mugs they wielded with pride) had dreams of their wild successes as Aurors, winning honor and glory and infamy for their daring rescues of damsels in distress, wrangling monsters like the heroes of myths and legends. But they also knew that the reality of life as an Auror would be a lot of paperwork and cleaning up messes that they hadn't actually been responsible for making. They were (mostly) okay with that.
That all changed when Sirius Black helped them find the lost Diadem of Ravenclaw and said that horrible H-word in their presence.
Horcrux.
Getting to hold a piece of the Dark Lord's soul in your hands does not lend itself to a long life.
Or a particularly sane one.The Boy Who Lived by Jormandugr
This is a sequel/epilogue to Power The Dark Lord Knows Not, and will contain spoilers for that story. No other stories in the series are required reading.
Regulus Black is alive. Regulus Black is also a young veteran who will carry the scars of his part in the war for the rest of his life, and who will always have to live with the things he has done, the people he has hurt, and the things he couldn't save. And, while the people around him lean on each other and move forward into the future... what is there left for him to move forward for?
Regulus Black is alive. Turning twenty, six months after the war, he really wishes he wasn't.

Through the Eyes of the Beholder Anthology by acuteneurosis
Fandoms: Star Wars - All Media Types, Star Wars Original Trilogy

Summary
An incident can mean different things to different people. The beauty of it isn't always seen from one perspective because what matters is different in the eyes of each beholder.
And sometimes, even one person is seeing things from two different perspectives.
Anthology containing:
For Want of a Skywalker
After the miracle of having survived Bespin, Piett does not ask why they are stopping on Tatooine. Or why Lord Vader suddenly has acquired a small child. Or why this child's name is Luke. Or how long they are going to keep him.
He probably should have.
From a Father Point of View
A collection of one-shots, behind-the-scenes moments from For Want of a Skywalker from a Dark Lord/Father point of view. Separated from the main text because really, For Want was supposed to be lighthearted and funny over all and one cannot get into Vader's head and be there for more than ten seconds before he is depressing and dark and sad. Even when he is being around Luke.
But that doesn't mean some of this won't be utterly adorable.
From a Rebel Point of View
A collection of one-shots, behind-the-scenes moments from For Want of a Skywalker from a not-quite-Jedi/Brother/Son point of view. Separated from the main text because really it was just funnier with Piett telling that story.
But that doesn't mean Luke didn't have a lot to say about it.
From a Princess Point of View
A collection of one-shots, behind-the-scenes moments from For Want of a Skywalker from a Princess/Sister/Daughter point of view. Separated from the main text because she spent so much time in that story being above it all and beside herself.
But that doesn't mean she didn't have a stake in it.
From a Solo Point of View
A collection of one-shots, off-screen and post-story moments from For Want of a Skywalker from a smuggler/best friend/not-quite boyfriend point of view. Separated from the main text because Han missed pretty much everything.
But that doesn't mean he did nothing.
From an Amirable Point of View
A collection of one-shots, behind-the-scenes moments from For Want of a Skywalker from a beleaguered, overworked admiral's point of view. Separated from the main text because that story was finished.
But that doesn't mean Piett's work was done.
From a Wookiee Point of View
A one-shot, post-story moment from For Want of a Skywalker from a wookiee/copilot/veteran point of view. Separated from the main text because Chewie knows when to keep his mouth shut.
But that doesn't mean he doesn't have opinions.
From a Soldier Point of View
A collection of one-shots, off-screen and post-story moments from For Want of a Skywalker from a soldier/old friend/Skywalker wrangler point of view. Separated from the main text because Rex is not dead.
But that doesn't mean he's thrilled about it.
