    ...But at what cost?

    Cardinal Kin

Waking up in your 10 year old body is… jarring to say the least.

    They’ve forgotten him.

He convinces himself it's better this way...because it is.

Damian doesn't have the patience for high society, but if he has to conform, he might as well learn from the best.

The Secret Identity of the Third Robin

Gotham needs Batman. Batman needs a Robin.

And unfortunately, it looks like there's no Robin-shaped kids around except Tim.

So, it will just have to be him.

    ----

This is an AU fic where Tim Drake becomes Robin, and Bruce Wayne cannot figure out the identity of the kid behind the mask. There will be hijinks, there will be fluff, there will be angst.

The Secret Identity of the Next-Door Neighbor

Tim takes a deep breath in the mirror.

    His hair is slicked back.

His tie is flush against a properly fitting button-down.

    His suit is ironed.

Timothy Jackson Drake looks perfect, even if Tim is freaking out on the inside.

The Wayne Enterprises internship starts today.

    ------------
In an AU where Tim Drake's Robin never reveals his identity to Batman, how will he manage to keep his secret as Bruce Wayne takes an interest in his next-door neighbor? Stay tuned for an insane amount of angst, with moments of fluff and found-family bonding as little treats <3

  4. Summary

Tim Drake didn't quite know what he was agreeing to four years ago, but he tried to make the best of it! Using notes from his past (future?) self, he (somewhat messily) tried to help everyone his other self cared for. Now, it's four years later and he can mostly ignore the second set of memories lying in the back of his brain. It'd be much easier if Dick Grayson would just leave him alone. If Tim believed in destiny he might actually think that the universe cared about what was lost.

Dick Grayson has spent the last year feeling like he's veered off course. Something keeps itching at the back of his brain. He's missed some clue. Helena Bertinelli's promised to help him crack down on human trafficking, but Dick thinks her foster kid might actually be more help in that department.

    Summary

A series where Jason never dies, but the Waynes’ weird neighbor kid gets strung along for the ride all the same.

(Alternatively: that one series where Tim Drake gradually develops a file at Gotham General as thick as a phonebook because he's quite possibly the Unluckiest Boy in the World.)

    Anthology containing:

5 Times Tim Spends the Night at Wayne Manor + 1 Time He Comes Home by motleyfam

    Tim is good at galas.

No, scratch that—Tim is great at galas. He’s been attending them ever since the age of three, when his parents first stuffed him into his little Gymboree tuxedo and gave him a stern lecture about ‘sitting quietly’ and ‘speaking when spoken to.’ He knows all the rules: what to wear, how to stand, when to smile, what to say, what not to say. He knows how to come across as polite and intelligent and charming, and on absolutely any other day, he would be rocking this.

    ---

Or, my take on a ‘Tim Joins the Family Early’ AU, told through a series of sleepovers—most of which are unplanned.

Featuring pre-teen Tim, Alive!Jason, and a whole lot of hurt/comfort.

    Gala-Bye by motleyfam

    Jason Todd hates galas.

Bruce Wayne loves his ridiculous son.

    Mess of Me by motleyfam

    Jack takes him trick-or-treating.

Tim is dressed in a simple black bodysuit with a white skeleton printed on top. He’d wanted to go as a stormtrooper—it’s all he’s been talking about at school for weeks, ever since he first saw the films—but his parents didn’t get the chance to pick up a costume until late that afternoon, and the options at Halloween City at four p.m. on October 31st are a bit sparse.

(It was this or a gigantic carrot, and even at seven years old, Tim has some dignity to maintain.)

    ---

Poor Timmy isn't having the best of Halloweens.

Shoot from the Hip by motleyfam

Objectively, this time isn’t even that bad. The bullet really only grazed his side. The mark it left is long and gnarly-looking, and he’s sure it’s going to bruise like a bitch tomorrow, but the actual damage to his flesh is pretty superficial. A saline wash, a quick row of stitches, a sterile dressing, and a couple painkillers, and he should be good to go.

…Which is why Dick neglects to mention this extremely minor injury during his usual post-patrol check-in with Agent A.

    By Necessity by motleyfam

An alternative ending to chapter 4 of 5 Times Tim Spends the Night at Wayne Manor + 1 Time He Comes Home.

(AKA, the part where there’s an ice storm and a massive tree limb takes out the Drakes’ living room window.)

    Kansaws by motleyfam

    Tim blinks.

Batman has a buddy with a chainsaw??

(A short drabble expanding on Chapter 4 of 5 Times Tim Spends the Night at Wayne Manor + 1 Time He Comes Home)

Man of the House by motleyfam

Is All Anger Sin? by motleyfam

Now, Jason likes Tim, don’t get him wrong, but that kid’s got the self-preservation instincts of a wet paper towel. And not even the premium paper towels Alfred buys at Costco—that cheap shit you get at the Dollar Tree. The kid’s basically allergic to asking for help, and it’s fucking sad, okay?

Case in point, the fact that he’s currently bleeding all over the damn floor and still insisting that they don’t bother Bruce.

    Well fuck that shit.

    ---

    Reverse Psychology by motleyfam

Jason leans back, crossing his arms over his chest. “Well, what if we don’t want you to clean up?”

    Tim just blinks at him.

(An alternative ending to one of the scenes in chapter 5 of 5 Times Tim Spends the Night at Wayne Manor + 1 Time He Comes Home.)

    First Watch by motleyfam

“I have a pretty bad headache, so I think I just want to go to bed.”

Like any good excuse, Tim’s claim is simple, succinct, and rooted in a half-truth; his head does hurt, though he wouldn’t really call it ‘bad’—it’s hurting about the normal amount for someone who’s spent the last eight hours as a tightly coiled ball of anxiety. It should have worked perfectly.

Unfortunately for Tim, he just forgot one small fact: that the Waynes are literally the most dramatic people on the planet.

Where Blame is Due by batmoniker & motleyfam

Jason rides in the ambulance with Tim.

He doesn’t think he’s allowed to, technically, since he isn’t family and both of them are minors, but he’s not about to take no for an answer. Luckily, or perhaps frighteningly, the paramedics are too busy to argue with him. They’re barking orders back and forth to each other, rattling off vitals, running IV and oxygen lines, applying cooling blankets. Tim’s temperature is over 105 degrees and his blood pressure is dangerously low. They’re worried about seizures.

They’re also worried about organ failure.

    –--

The immediate aftermath of Jason finding Tim in the final chapter of 5 Times Tim Spends the Night at Wayne Manor + 1 Time He Comes Home, told from three different points of view.

A Jumbo Miscalculation by justbeyondstars & motleyfam

Suddenly a new voice, gruffer, deeper, says, “What are you doing?” and Tim goes cold all over. That’s Bruce. That’s Bruce speaking a full sentence for the first time today and of course it’s when Tim is hurling his guts out in the bathroom and didn’t want him to know about it.

    Shit.

“Picking the lock,” Jason says, like it’s obvious. “Didn’t think you’d appreciate me breaking the door down. I can, if you want. I am absolutely fine with that option actually.”

    –--

Bruce is in a bad mood after a case doesn’t go entirely to plan, and Tim is determined not to do anything to make it worse.
(Unfortunately, his shrimp allergy didn’t get that memo.)

    DANton-ten-six by motleyfam

Ten weeks into Tim’s new foster placement with the Waynes, he wakes up feeling kind of lousy.

His stomach started hurting sometime after dinner the night before, which he initially chalked up to the heaviness of Alfred’s chicken fettuccine; that man does not skimp on the heavy cream. It’s why he only ever makes it when Dick—the family’s resident lactose intolerant dumbass, as Jason so lovingly puts it—is confirmed to be staying in Bludhaven for the evening.

(Not that it ever works. Dick’s been known to sniff out leftovers from the fridge days later like a bloodhound, consequences to his delicate digestive system be damned.)

    Anyway...

    Summary

Tim wakes up inexplicably in his two-year-old body. Which: odd. But just think, how many people would kill to have an opportunity to redo their life! And Tim has so much he wants to change, so much he wants. He wants to feel important to Bruce. He wants to be Dick's favorite. He wants Jason (his childhood hero) to think he's cool. He wants Damian to need him. And really, is it manipulation if his family benefits from it?

Or: He was halfway through the second trash can, when a startled “Good lord” caught him off guard. Tim glanced up, the rhythmic sucking of his pacifier coming to a still at the sight of a black Rolls Royce idling at the side road that lead to Wayne Manor. Alfred was staring at him from the over the car top, aghast. “Master Bruce, it’s not a raccoon.”

From the back seat, Bruce Wayne stared at him. Tim stared back.

Or: Tim is side tracked by his actual childish needs and wants, gets a whole bunch of his nannies fired, terrorizes his parents with a series of petty revenges, is an honest employer of one (1) newly minted murderer for hire, endears himself to – and thoroughly weirds out – the Waynes, and is generally just a petty, manipulative, vindictive, smol boy.

His sons echoed his thoughts. “We can’t let him go back to those pieces of shit he calls family,” Jason growled, eyes flashing with impending danger. “They clearly don’t care for him enough to keep him.”

“I wholeheartedly agree,” Dick chimed in. “We can’t send him back.” The gleam in Dick’s eyes told Bruce exactly what his son was going to say next. “We should keep him ourselves.”

Jason nodded in agreement, leaving Bruce to run through the practicality of such a notion. “How are we going to convince Tim to stay? He seems pretty adamant on returning home.”

Dick’s smile twisted into something darker, the smile Nightwing used when planning mayhem for Gotham’s scum.

The BatFam, as according to me and not DC

    Anthology containing:

Being Alone is So Cold (And You Are So Warm)

Tim wants one person on his team to know his name, just for now. Superboy may seem like an unlikely candidate but he trusts Kon. And honestly? More than trust, Tim just doesn't want to feel alone for once in his life.

    A Little Secret

Clark meets the new Robin. This Robin smiles with a glacier-like coldness and breathes secret names with an ease that makes Clark freeze.

    Blackberry Tea

An Alfred Pennyworth view of his almost-son Bruce and the child who decided to save him.

    A Weapon is a Girl

    She was nothing.
    She was a weapon.
    She is Cass.

Shadow Girls, Shadow Boys, They Haunt Every Corner

There is a girl lurking in the shadows of Jason's room. When he sleeps, the girl paralyzes him and reminds him of a bird's wings.

There is a boy creeping silently into Jason's spaces. When he is not there, the boy slips in and leaves confusion in his wake.

    Tim's School of Passable Normality

After Kon asks a random question about something fairly normal, Tim decides that he should introduce Kon and Bart to some of the most normal, teenager things he knows of. Is it a coping mechanism to deal with the major upheavals in his life? Um, well, maybe, but Kon and Bart deserve normal things! It's just that...Tim is really, really weird and his perception of normal is definitely messed up.

Heavy is the Head That Bears the Cowl

They're on opposite sides of the world, but Dick and Tim are both making bad decisions together. Funny how these things work, isn't it?

    Red Atheris

    Atheris Hispida:
A species of viper. Previously, the venom of said viper was not thought to be particularly dangerous. This misconception has been corrected in the recent years of study revealing that the venom of this ambush predator can cause severe hemorrhaging of internal organs.

    The Nest

Tim makes a Nest. Is it a bird's Nest or a snake's? Depends on who you are.

Do You Stay the Same or Change Your Ways?

Bruce returns to a home that isn't whole anymore. Does he stay the same, mission oriented and content with his empty home? Or does he change and become a man who might be a better father, a better human?

    Consultation Work

Jason expects the first work he does with Red Robin to be some kind of drugs bust or trafficking take down. It's actually consultation work for the Neon Knights' Project Rebirth.

    CODE: Caroline

When a need for an undercover agent surfaces, there's only one Bat for the job. Tim never realized how different his training was until CODE: Caroline put into action.

Doctor, Except for Everything, I Am Perfectly Fine

Alfred and Bruce decide they have to update the kids' medical information. If the others aren't a fan if this, then Tim is even worse. Guess who's missing his spleen?

Sebastian Ives and the Particularly Strange Friend Group

Ives is back in town and calls up his old friends to hang out. Only, Tim wants them all to meet his best friends. Ives should really plan for Tim more often.

    Jason and the Spooks

Jason, regrettably, has to team up with Red Robin and Black Bat. Actually, maybe this isn't the worst thing possible. Vegan dark chocolate peanut butter cups are involved.

A string of fics following the friendship of Tim Drake and Billy Batson because I say they get to be friends- muahahahaha

    Anthology containing:

Tim and Captain Magma... No- wait Marvel!

    “Are you okay?”

    Tim groaned.

Great, he nearly died in the stupidest way possible, and there was a witness.

“Hang on!”, the voice whisper shouted, voice bouncing off the hard concrete that made up a good portion of Gotham's infrastructure. The fire escape began to shake minutely- the witness was climbing up to him. Not good. Strangers in Gotham were never good.

    Or:

After the nights excitement finished with hardly any Batman and Robin action thanks to some Captain Magnificent- or whatever his name was- Tim meets a homeless boy named Billy that isn't trying to mug him.

    Midnight Menaces

The next part was faster than he expected, Bruce taking a step forward only to be met with the red clad child barreling towards him with a- a taser of all things shouting a brave, “Go Tim!”, before his little device tried in vain to pierce through Bruce's kevlar with its electrical currents.

Tim did not “go” anywhere. The child raised a starstruck hand, weakly pointing to the Dark Knight with a faintly whispered, “That's a Batman.”, passing his lips.

    Or:

Bruce was thinking of heading home early that night from patrol- until two little boys that didn't belong in the Bowery at 2am became officially named menace 1 and 2.

Billy and Tim just wanted pictures of Batman, not a surprise meet and greet.

On the spectrum... the magic spectrum

“He's a magic baby.”, Bruce blurted out.

Like that explained how Tim left him tongue tied mere minutes ago.

Like that wasn't the most idiotic sentence to leave his mouth while decked out in his Dark Knight regalia.

Dick looked like Alfred had told him cereal was a totally acceptable breakfast food and that he'd stock the kitchen up with the most sugary kinds. Awed and disbelieving.

    “A… magic baby.”

    Or:
After realizing Tim, his new Robin, is the same kid that jumped off a building and poofed into thin air (escaping from THE Batman), Bruce is determined to prove the child has magic. There was no other explanation for that night otherwise.

Tim and Billy have some thoughts on that.

  13. Summary

Everything about a gala was unbearable, but at the very least it would give him time to observe the Waynes outside of their suits.

It isn’t often he interacts with them as civilians - and really using the word interact is being generous - so at the very least, he has that to look forward to. Sometimes he feels a bit odd, practically idolizing this family that only knows of his existence because of his last name. But it helps.

The loneliness that sometimes feels far too suffocating to be intangible is always lessened by the Waynes. Tim likes to pretend that he’s a part of their family, that they know him and don’t scold him for his fidgeting and actually listen to him.

    OR

Tim has made a mistake, he fell asleep and missed his parents leaving the gala and now Bruce Wayne - otherwise known as freaking Batman - thinks he's being abused. Not wanting to cause any more trouble, Tim agrees to stay at Wayne Manor until his parents get back so that Tim can prove they are good parents. They're not abusive, or neglectful or anything!

But the longer Tim stays at Wayne Manor, the harder it gets to pretend to be normal. But he can't let himself be a bother, or the Waynes might just abandon him too.

Halfway through his Thursday night routine, Jason got antsy.
The little bird hadn't come around.
The fuckhead had made it a habit to follow Jason around on Thursdays from the moment Bruce let him out of the Manor after the Tower incident. He even went through the trouble to get messages to Jason to tell him when he'd miss a day.
Which was the only reason Jason was bothered by the Pretender's absence. It was inconvenient for Jason to have arranged his schedule around the annoyance of having the kid follow him around only for the kid not to show up.

    Anthology containing:

    Once Upon A Kidnap Dreary

According to a certain Dick, kidnapping was a right of passage for the wards of Wayne. An initiation, as it were, to the life style of the rich and famous.

Jason hadn’t believed him. Or, hadn’t believed that he would ever be stupid enough to get kidnapped in the first place. Dick might be an idiot who would hop into any van labeled Free Candy but Jason was smarter. Street smart and, these days, book smart too. He knew to kick nuts first, ask questions never and not look back even once. Gotham might not be the trafficking capitol of the world, but it was dangerously close to being the trafficking capital of America and he wasn’t about to become a statistic.
