Just a series for all my LU fics!

    Anthology containing:

Five Times Wild Did Something Wild (and One Time it Didn't Work Out)

“Wild, no.” Twilight whispered, gripping his shoulder, but Wild merely smiled.
“You don’t trust me.” he stated, smile unwavering. Twilight bit his lip, glancing between Wild and the enemy camp. There were half a dozen armed and dangerous Bokolins just waiting for them to come within range, but Wild’s grin made it seem as if the idea of being riddled with arrows excited him.
“I don’t know what you’re planning, but it can’t be good.” Twilight said instead, earning him a huff of laughter.
“You’re no fun, Twi.” Wild simply said, only confusing the other more.
“That is a camp full of bloodthirsty Bokoblins, Wild! There is nothing ‘fun’ about it!”

    ---

Thank you for 1000 kudos!! <3

    Every Man Dies Alone

Wild was a skilled fighter, brave and selfless. Sure, he was reckless and at times unreasonable, but everyone had their issues. The group wasn’t concerned about Wild as much anymore, even though the younger still exhibited few self preservation skills. He would hide his injuries, refuse potions, and sneak off into the forest at night and be fine in the morning. No one else noticed, but Twilight worried.

    The Sun Will Come Out

Everyone kept telling him not to worry so much, that Wild was capable, that he’d be back soon. All Twilight could think of was the scars painting his cub’s body from his last adventure, of the frequent nightmares, lost memories, self doubt. They’d made progress, but Wild was still only a kid. He wasn’t even nineteen yet, and already had faced more than Twilight could comprehend. If Wild’s first adventure broke him, Twilight worried this one might shatter him.
    ---
Wild leaves the group for another adventure, and returns very different.

    Tomorrow

A bright green light flashed, and Wild turned to see a body of mummified skin and bones resting atop a platform, dark eyes fixed on Zelda and arm glowing bright with runes. Wild's heart leapt into his throat as the figure lurched forward, arm reaching for Zelda's frozen form.

Wild didn't think--he stepped in front of Zelda and raised his right arm in defense.

    Wet and Wild

“Do you not want to talk about it?” Twilight asked slowly.
“You’ll all find out soon enough anyway, I might as well tell you.” Wild sighed, eyes focused on his boots. “I’m sorta, kinda, maybe dating the prince.” Wild mumbled quietly, shoulders tensing as he finally admitted it.

    Legend Has Two Hands

Marin bit her lip to hide a smile and Ravio looked as if he were about to laugh. Legend somehow became even redder, raising his hands to hide his face. As if on cue, Ravio swung his legs over Legend’s lap while Marin leaned in closer, and both placed a kiss on each of Legend’s cheeks.

    Scars

“You okay?” Wild asked, and Warriors snapped back to the present with an apologetic smile.
“Yeah, I’m…” Warriors hesitated, and Wild tilted his head before sitting down in the sand beside him. Warriors let out a sigh, lowering his head and watching Wild from his peripheral. “How do you do it?”
“Do what?” Wild asked, and Warriors felt himself beginning to blush as he realized what he was about to ask.
“How are you so confident? Your scars…” Warriors trailed off with a huff, feeling like a jerk. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t be asking such a personal question.”
Wild was quiet for a moment, staring out at the distant forms splashing in the water. “I wasn’t always comfortable. With my scars, I mean.”

    Throwing Shade

Four had a feeling the minute he returned to his Hyrule things would get real weird, real fast, and there wouldn’t be much he could do about it. He held onto hope that maybe, just maybe, his boyfriend wouldn’t be the dramatic idiot he was and wouldn’t emerge from the shadows like some kind of evil villain in front of a group of heavily armed and trigger happy heroes. He hoped that Shadow would have a scrap of common sense not to jump him the minute he came back. He prayed his secrets wouldn’t be revealed against his will, but he had a feeling all his prayers would be for nothing.

You Can't Buy Love but You Can Rent It

No more taking pity on Mr. Hero, even if he was handsome and selfless and his best customer. No more, or Link might realize he had a crush and never come back, or worse, spread a rumor about Ravio’s willingness to cut a deal if he liked someone. It would be horrible for business, so he swore to himself up and down that night, laying in bed as Link’s kiss still tickled his cheek, that he would never bargain again.

    Warriors Shouldn't Have Done That

Legend hid his face in his hands, cursing Warriors under his breath, while Hyrule seemed to shrink in on himself with a bright blush and a horrified look on his face. Wind slumped over the table, his ears bright red.
    ---
Or, Warriors' flirtatious attitude leads to Wind and Hyrule discovering some things about themselves and Legend is tired.

    I Am He..?

“Legend, can I ask you something?” Hyrule whispered to the older hero, their eyes briefly meeting as he got his attention. “Ah, but, you have to promise you won’t tease me about it…”

“Sure thing, ‘Rule, what’s on your mind?” Legend raised his brows, and Hyrule looked around to make sure no one was eavesdropping before he continued.

    “I’ve just been wondering, what’s a gender?”
    ---
Hyrule doesn't know what gender is. Unfortunately for him, the other heroes aren't much help.

    Hero Through the Ages

“Do you know how old you are right now?” Twilight sighed, letting himself fully sit as the last Moblin fell behind them.
“I’d say about seven… maybe eight years old? Physically, that is.” Wild eventually replied, clenching his small hands into fists.
Twilight's eyes widened in surprise as he looked the kid over again. Wild was small, sure, but eight years old? He’d been fighting with perfect form just a few minutes ago, and the way he was responding to things, the way his hair was cropped short…
“Wild, were you training as a knight at eight years old?” Twilight couldn’t help himself, the fear of knowing the answer not enough to stop his curiosity. Wild jumped slightly at the question, but instead of becoming sheepish, instead of appearing at all upset, he simply cocked his head in question.
    “Is that not normal?”
    ---
Wild gets hit with a spell and turns into a child, but he's not as wild as the heroes expected.

    The Point of No Return

This was underhanded, cruel, unspeakably evil. It was very much something Dark Link would pull. And Four hated that it worked, he hated that he couldn’t even bluff indifference. Now that Shadow was here in his arms Four would do anything to keep him there.
Dark’s grimace returned in full, knowing force.
“I’m listening.” Four sighed, and Shadow whispered a stream of refusal in his ear that he tried his best to ignore.

Experimental Equations, Or The One Where Wild Uses Glitches

“It’s called a wall clip. No idea how it works, but if I shield surf at just the right moment while jumping towards a wall I can pass through it.” Wild explained, before a haunted look replaced the grin. “Or get stuck inside. That’s not very pleasant.”
    Twilight didn’t want to know.
    ---
The group ends up in Wild's Hyrule and Flora shows up with some "experiments" she wants to perform. Cue Wild using glitches and Twilight losing his mind.

    To Fulfill His Fate

    The hero was dead.
    He knew that.
Stupid boy, stop playing hero. You’re just going to get yourself killed.
Link had heard those words countless times across Hyrule. Ever since he’d woken up in that strange stone tomb, voices in his head foreign and begging, ghosts giving him directives, memories long gone poking at the edge of his mind. The hero was dead. He died a hundred years ago.
    He failed.
    ---
Wild travels across Hyrule, an unknown and unnamed rogue dispatching monsters in the night. He has no friends, no family, and everyone thinks he’s long dead.

    Four Feet of Pure Flirtation

Alright, so maybe Vio had a teeny, tiny, little preference for the brooding type. So what? It wasn’t a crime!
They had the best fashion sense anyway.
    And they were hot.
    But they were typically villains.
Vio tried not to dwell on these more conflicting thoughts.
    ---
Four had a problem. Vio liked to flirt. With villains, specifically. It was making his life a bit more difficult than it needed to be, to say the least.

    Dream With Me

Legend had been gone for months, but Hyrule stayed strong. His friend--his brother--would return. He had to be sure, for both of them, too afraid of thinking otherwise. In the logical part of his mind he knew Legend had more adventures ahead--not just one, not just two. So he would be fine, absolutely fine, and he’d come back and it would be like nothing had ever happened!
But the longer Legend was gone, the more he worried.
    ---
Legend joins the group after his third adventure but soon leaves to save a mysterious island. He returns a very different person.

    A Troublesome Habit

“I cannot believe I have to say this,” Time sucked in a breath, immensely tired. “But there will be no more poisoning yourself on this adventure. And that goes for all of you.”

    ---
The heroes have odd drinking habits. Legend drinks too much coffee, Wind has a flask, and when was the last time Hyrule drank water..?

    A Shower to Remember

Enter Time, Twilight, Wild, Legend, Hyrule, Warriors, Wind, Four, and Sky to Untitled Group.

    TIME

    FATHER TIME
Thou Hast Been Summoned To A Shower, Doth

    ---
The boys are invited to Time and Malon's baby shower. They have one week to plan the ultimate prank (or foil it).
Shakespearean-style Chatfic Edition. Yes, you read that right.

    Lessons in Love

“What do you mean by ‘show me the ropes’?” Legend asked, quick, defensive enough to pass as insulted. Ravio snorted, tasting the hot chocolate, and Legend’s eyes were drawn to his lips once more as if under a spell.

“I mean no offense, Link,” Ravio laughed, seeming not to catch the blush on Legend’s face as Ravio used his name. “I just figured you might want some pointers. Flirting, hand holding, relationship advice, y’know? You don’t have to accept the offer by any means!”

    Flirting? Hand holding? Legend gulped.

He was already an idiot. Maybe he could play dumb for a little while longer…

    ---
Legend accepts lessons in relationship advice from Ravio as he tries to work up the nerve to confess. Unfortunately they're both idiots.

    Beneath the Surface

What most people didn’t realize, just as they had no clue that Link was four or could shrink down to the size of a Minish, is that pulling the Four Sword did more than just split them. Not just four parts, four pieces of one whole with a color assigned to each. A color and an element, for the blade was not just enchanted--he’d repaired it himself using four Elements, crystals embodying Wind, Fire, Water, and Earth. The Four Sword did more than just split him, it imbued each part with one of the elements, abilities both powerful assets and dangerous weapons.
    ---
The Colors have elemental magic to use at their will, but it wasn't always easy to control their powers.

    Too Good to Be True

Something wasn’t right about Warriors’ Hyrule. Legend didn’t want to find out what it was.
    He feared he already knew.
    ---
Warriors' games aren't canon, and all dreams must come to an end.

    Smoke on the Wind

Wind would never tell the others his greatest secret.

It wasn’t something small, like the details of his first or second adventure. It wasn’t even big, like Time’s markings or Wild’s memory issues, things they kept under lock and key for no one to hear the truth of. No, Wind’s greatest secret was massive; a burden he’d been forced to bear on his own the entire time he’d had it.

Wind knew when someone was about to die.

    Forever and Always

Legend's eyes traveled over each word, slowly, savoring the time he had before it came to a close. He reached the end of the page too soon. Legend felt his heart skip a beat.

    Please write back soon.
    Love,
    Ravio.

    Love.
No, no, what? What did he mean love?
    ---
Legend and Ravio exchange letters until a sudden confession forces Legend to confront his own feelings for the merchant.

    Arrhythmic

They weren’t walking fast, just one foot in front of the other in a line, nothing out of the ordinary. Yet Hyrule’s heart was racing as if they were in the heat of battle. He took deep, steadying breaths as the morning wore on, the only thing he knew to try and calm himself. But he was calm, relatively speaking, and the longer his heart hammered away the dizzier and colder he felt.
    ---
Hyrule pushes himself too hard and his heart isn't having it.

    Liminal

The wind howled through the open entrance, drowning out the creaking of the roof. Four flicked his blade once more, and the swish of air nearly covered the shifting weight behind him. He paused, looking back, just in time to see the roof caving in as the support beam gave way.

    LU Ficlet Collection

A series of my Linked Universe ficlets crossposted from Tumblr!

    Second Wind

Four raised his sword swiftly, glinting in the sunlight in multicolored rays.
One body became four, four minds slotted into place--

Except when Green opened his eyes, something felt wrong.

    ---

Vaati is sealed within the Four Sword until the magic breaks, allowing him to burst free. He takes control of Green, and it's up to the rest of the Links to free him before someone gets hurt, or worse.

    Ties That Bind

“This,” Shadow pulled out the mirror, waving it around for emphasis a foot from Vio’s face. “Doesn’t work. I got about a hundred feet from those Goddess-forsaken ruins when I started feeling like shit, but when I tried to go back in the mirror--” Shadow waved his hands more, sharp teeth bared. “Nothing! I’m stuck here!”
“That shouldn’t be the case--” Vio began, the pain in his skull lessening enough to let him think. And as soon as he did, the pieces snapped into place, creating a grim picture of his error clear in his mind. “Oh, shit.”
“What? What is it?” Shadow scrambled forward, latching slightly sharp fingers onto Vio’s shoulders. “What did you do to me?”
“It’s actually ‘what did I do to us’, I’m afraid."

    ---

Vio manages to bring Shadow back to the light world, but a small mistake leads to a terrible fate for more than just the two of them... or, an opportunity to strengthen the ties that bind.

    Uncanny

He got the feeling that there was something not-quite-right about Four. He got that feeling about Time, a little bit of wariness around Hyrule, too… he couldn’t quite place why. There was something a bit different about the colors of their spirits and the way they held themselves, and like with most things Wind didn’t understand, he figured he would learn the truth someday.

There was something uncanny about him too, after all.

    ---

Four, Hyrule, Time, and Wind all have something not-quite-Hylian about them. Fae ancestry, blessings, curses, and Deity ties all make them different, in ways that only they can recognize...
