1 – 20 of 30 Works in Rare Pairings
Summary
Suspended before his fifth year at Hogwarts, Harry instead goes to live with Sirius in Grimmauld Place. There he learns far more than school had to teach him, and soon he realises that magic is just the beginning.
Anthology containing:
The Turning Wheel
Harry is suspended in the summer before fifth year. Grimmauld Place may seem an unlikely refuge, with an erratic lord and a malicious house elf and a tendency to change when night falls. But a year away from Hogwarts offers opportunities, and Harry begins to learn what it means to be a ward of the House of Black.
'Magical families deal with the dead differently. The Potters bury theirs which is more of a statement than you’d think. It says ‘our kin are safe in the ground, we trust they will not rise’ - words your grandfather once said to me by the way, not something I just made up for dramatics. Other families don’t have such confidence.' - Sirius Black
The Odyssey
After a year spent safe in Grimmauld Place, Harry returns to his sixth year at Hogwarts as the Wizarding World begins to darken, burdened with the knowledge that its future rests on his shoulders. Determined to understand his connection with Voldemort and driven to learn his own family history, he continues his search for answers. It takes him further than he ever could have imagined.
"You were born into a turbulent time, and brought that turbulence with you too, and lived within it, and caused it, an eternal cycle. A harbinger of changing days, that’s what a cast like this means. The axis on which the world will turn.” - Theodore Nott.

Summary
When Hermione Granger decides that the only way to stop Voldemort is to go back in time and love the evil out of him, Harry Potter laughs. Then he agrees.
Harry Potter wakes in 1928 with an accidentally age-regressed Hermione and a half-baked plan to change the course of history. He suddenly finds himself with two small children to raise—one of which has the potential to grow into a Dark Lord. Living under a new name and building a quiet life in 1930s Godric's Hollow, Harry’s singular focus becomes raising his children with love and affection.
As political tensions rise and long-buried legacies awaken, Harry finds himself entangled with Lord Arcturus Black III—who might be everything he ever wanted, if he can just manage not to hex the posh git first.
Time travel/reincarnation. Found family. Courtship rituals. Domestic fluff. Pretty-swift-not-really-slow-burn romance meets magical chaos, with a cast of precocious children, looming Dark Lords (cough Grindlewald cough), and at least one snake who may or may not be a prophet.

Harry Potter & Seven Years of Chaos Anthology by JessalynMichele, Severitus812 (JessalynMichele)
Fandoms: Harry Potter - J. K. Rowling

Summary
Anthology containing:
Obliviate
What if Harry understood his “freaky accidents” when he was young and began controlling them? How would this impact his first year at Hogwarts?
*Warning for: child abuse, implied sexual assault of a minor, and descriptions of violence.Sectumsempra
Harry Potter enters his second year at Hogwarts surrounded by power, allies, enemies, secrets that whisper to him from the castle walls, and a past that won’t give him any peace.
Severus Snape prepares himself for another year of keeping the most chaotic student he has ever had the (mis)fortune of meeting alive.
Welcome to the Chamber of Secrets.
Veritaserum
Does Snape really think that Harry is worried about another mad man after him?
He can handle himself, thanks.
Changes in the gang and at Hogwarts are running rampant as Snape tries to deal with a ward who he believes may be struggling with more than just his copious amounts of past trauma, Harry wants everyone to leave him alone and let him find Sirius Black for a 'friendly chat', Susan fantasizes about what she'll do if she even so much as sees one hair of Sirius Blacks head near her best friend, Hermione and Theo just want to read... alone... together..., and Remus Lupin wonders what on Earth happened to James' son to create the chaotic child he now meets.
Welcome back to Year 3.
Tres Mortes
Harry feels great, honestly. He’s got a loyal group of friends, big plans for the future, and he thinks he’s finally gotten the hang of how other people show emotions and how to use those emotions to get what he needs.
Plus now there’s an exciting tournament happening, Snape’s darkening mark means Harry might get his chance for revenge on Voldemort sooner rather than later, and the new Defense Professor is an absolute bloodthirsty genius.
So Harry’s great.
It’s just that Severus Snape is not doing so great. He worries if his ward will survive a year filled with danger, masked enemies, and changes happening quickly within the student body.
Welcome back to Year Four.
Let’s see some chaos, yeah? The Grey Force
Harry Potter has magical power that has never been seen before, an ever growing gang of powerful and brilliant allies, and enough cunning and strength to face whatever comes his way this year.
Unfortunately, Harry Potter also has mental illness, a tendency for idiocy, powerful enemies, and a reckless streak that has taken at least ten years off Severus Snape’s lifespan so far- so Severus enters the year with more reservations than his foolish ward does.
Alliances will be tested, lines will be drawn, and Hogwarts is beginning to feel like a battlefield more than a school.
Which, in Harry’s opinion, is perfectly brill.
Welcome to Year Five.

[Fandom stats] Which are the biggest ships on AO3? by toastystats (destinationtoast)
Which relationships currently have the most works on AO3? I did an analysis of the top 10 relationships for 95% of the fandoms on AO3 and present the overall most frequent ships here.

An analysis of the relative popularity of different ratings (both in terms of production and reader appreciation), and a look at how much of this is due to word count.
[Fandom stats] Completion rates on AO3: not as bad as you think by toastystats (destinationtoast)
... it depends on what you think, of course. But my previous analyses showed a low completion rate (fewer than 50% of multi-chapter works were complete), and this follow-up shows that more like 80% of fic eventually gets completed.
[Fandom stats] Omegaverse (as of 2013) by toastystats (destinationtoast)
I've been fascinated by the Omegaverse (as well as other collaborative fan worldbuilding AUs) ever since I ran across it. In 2013 I first did stats on Omegaverse and the trends at the time.

I looked at the differences in the Sherlock fanworks on AO3 in general vs. when you exclude things tagged John/Sherlock. I also explained how to exclude common ships and find rare pairs (which has become easier on AO3 since I first posted this to Tumblr in Oct 2013).
[Fandom stats] Changes to Sherlock fanworks, post-S2 by toastystats (destinationtoast)
I tested two hypotheses (on AO3 in June 2013):
H1: There was a big spike in amount of fanfic right after both S1 and S2, but then it settled down to a pretty steady state during most of the hiatus.
H2: There was a big spike in amount of angsty fic after TRF aired.

[Fandom stats] Chatty tags, canonical tags, and synonyms on AO3 by toastystats (destinationtoast)
This started out as an attempt to estimate the number of long, chatty tags on AO3, and to see how much chattiness varied by fandom. But it turned out my analysis didn't provide much insight into that question -- however, it spawned a super geeky (and interesting, to me) conversation about the details of AO3 tag wrangling. This analysis includes replies from multiple AO3 wranglers.

Summary
Ahsoka Tano didn't plan to make friends. She needed a place to hide. To be alone. A place where the new Empire wouldn't expect a former Jedi to be. A bounty hunter haven of a planet seemed to be a good place as any. No one would bother her there. No one would care for another lonely soul.
Din Djarin had no need for friends. The only things he needed was his ship, his blaster, his Tribe and his mission. This was the Way. He would follow it.
The Force disagreed.

And They have been watching. See with the vision granted to your mind, oh Child of Prophecy. For reality is a lie. Your very existence is a flaw. An anomaly. A bend in Fate. And if Fate can bend, then it can break.

Child of the Storm by NimbusLlewelyn
New Mexico was not the first time Thor had been a mortal. It was only a refinement of the technique. What if James Potter had been Thor, incarnated as a memoryless newborn? On his death, Odin removed his memories as James, due to grief. In Harry's Third Year, a reformed Loki restores them. Harry now has to deal with a father, a family and a heritage that is going to change the world. Forever. Sounds like fun.
Chaos Reigns by NimbusLlewelyn
A twoshot spinoff of 'Child of the Storm', set during chapters 58 to 60. The Avengers are on holiday. SHIELD are busy fighting HYDRA. Who you gonna call? If you're Wanda Maximoff, heir apparent to the Sorcerer Supreme, in Chicago to deal with a major demon problem, the answer is Harry Dresden. The two of them aren't going to have much in the way of help. But that's okay. It's only the world at stake, after all.
Ghosts of the Past: Prelude by NimbusLlewelyn
Harry's life has changed a lot over the past year, what with the return of his father, Thor, murder attempts by everything from HYDRA assassins to Elder Gods keeping him on his toes, and making a few new friends. Oh, and, possibly the most trying experience of them all, the onset of puberty. But while Chthon and HYDRA are gone, all sorts of dark things have been stirred up, things thought long gone. And guess who they're after...
I've broken this story down into its component arcs, because it is enormously long, set to become longer, and each is basically story length anyway. That makes it easier to digest for you guys, and easier to tag for me without overdoing it or spoiling component parts.
Ghosts of the Past: Forever Red by NimbusLlewelyn
HYDRA has fallen, and SHIELD is a shadow of its former self. Now, into the vacuum steps a power that once made both tremble: the Red Room. A nightmare of the Cold War, resurrected with new ambitions and greater powers, it conceals worse things at its heart. Surrounded by woven traps and dark secrets, in a world sent into disarray, Harry will be reminded of the oldest lesson of all: what is right is not the same as what is easy.
Chaperone by NimbusLlewelyn & ThunderStag
An omake written for Nimbus Llewelyn's Child of the Storm series, based on an offhand comment probably seven or eight years ago at this point.
(Nimbus: the actual setting of this is intentionally uncertain, but imagine it a few years down the line from Ghosts of the Past. Also, my writing role was a few comments/suggestions/incessantly bugging ThunderStag to post this).
Ghosts of the Past: Recovery by NimbusLlewelyn
The Red Room has fallen. Long live the consequences. Following the aftermath of the disasters of 'Forever Red', Harry begins the road to recovery. It is a long one - and not, by any means, either simple or easy. Unfortunately, the world isn't done with him yet... and things, and secrets, are starting to come unravelled.

Gods and Love Anthology by ColleenWritesMN

Summary
Anthology containing:
Unbreakable
Kirishima was born blessed by the Sun God, the only person with crimson eyes in his village. He had his mother’s sharp teeth and sonorous voice and his father’s broad shoulders and dark hair, which his parents lamented: if only he’d been given fiery red hair to match his eyes. No one in the village had red hair, though it was said to emerge every other generation or so. Their village was truly the most favored of the Sun God, for their offerings were the most celebrated, the most lauded. And their tributes returned from the temple every year, which couldn’t be said for other villages.
When he turned twenty, Kirishima won the privilege of tribute, chosen for his sturdiness and unflappable spirit. The villagers wouldn’t go so far as to call him “the sun” – or risk godly vengeance – but a day never went by that he wasn’t helping someone bring in crops from the fields or carry water home from the nearby spring. If he frowned, only his parents witnessed it, because the villagers only received his blinding smile when he passed through the market. He was the ideal choice to bring the village offering for the year, for how could the Sun God resist that ready smile and shining red eyes.Of Gods and Dragons
Gods may live forever, but there are two things they're terrible at: communication and falling in love. While Bakugo and Kirishima are now married, will they find peace and happiness together? Can Midoriya calm the fuck down for one second and appreciate that Shoto is always there for him? And will Kaminari screw things up royally with the reticent demi-god Shinso?
One For All
The conclusion to the Love and Gods series. Most of our heroes and couples are separated as they brace for a war that may or may not come. Villains lurk behind a veil of blue fire, striking where least expected. New powers manifesting that defy control, and some new faces on both sides of the conflict. Who will emerge the victor, and who will be lost along the way to the final battle?
