    Hisashi hugged his son. “You will help people, Izuku.” He placed his cheek on the crown of Izuku’s head. His son’s green curls were so soft and he just held his boy for a few moments longer. “You will stand by my side when I change the world,” All For One told his son. “You will be my dragon,” he added.

    It didn’t start when All Might told Izuku Midoriya that he couldn’t be a hero. It started much earlier than that, when Hisashi Midoriya walked out on Inko, taking with him their four and a half year old son. 

    All For One will devote a lot of time to investments he considers worthwhile. His son is one such investment.

    Izuku Midoriya was a competitive cheerleader up until an injury to his hand made tumbling and stunting an impossibility. It's devastating to think that cheer could be out of his life for good—until a pair of enthusiastic classmates show up at Izuku's dorm room with a signup sheet for a new club: hockey cheerleading. All that's left to do is learn how exactly hockey works...and try not to think too much about the prodigious freshman right wing, who's just about the most wonderful person Izuku's ever met.

    Shouto Todoroki has eaten, slept, and breathed hockey his whole life. He's got a legacy to live up to with his pro-hockey old man, and he's no stranger to the scrutiny and expectations of his coaches and teammates. It's different now that he plays for UA, though. He's got a former pro coach who sees potential in him and teammates who might actually like him as a person. Then there's the cheerleading captain, who's kind and compassionate in a way Shouto's never known—and who won't rest until Shouto stops dismissing hockey as nothing more than his old man's game.

    The Road to Varsity

    UA's hockey team is legendary, so much so that their all-freshman JV team basically plays a tryout season. Players either move on to Varsity or see the end of their college hockey careers. Everyone keeps telling Shouto Todoroki that he's a shoo-in for Varsity, but nothing is guaranteed in hockey. He'll have to work harder than ever to take his spot. At least when the pressure looms over him, he knows he can lean on the person he loves for support.

    Turning in competitions for cheering on the sidelines at hockey games was an easier transition than Izuku Midoriya expected. He fell in love with the game and the JV team's star player. Sometimes he misses stunting and tumbling. It's hard not to think about what life at UA would have been like if he'd been able to compete on the varsity cheer squad. Then again, things have a way of working themselves out.

    “I’m going to preface this by telling you one thing,” Shouto said, leaning down into Izuku’s space. “I’m never, ever, going to love you. Not now, not in the future. Understood?”

    Izuku had imagined the Prince of Endeavor to be beautiful, charming, and lovely. Instead he was faced with a man with pure hatred burning in his eyes, and Izuku couldn’t help but feel bitter that this was the man he had to marry, this horrid and furious beast of a man who gave off an aura of superiority.

    “Perfectly,” Izuku grit out.

    When the kingdoms of Endeavor and Yuuei are on the brink of war with one another, a solution is brought forward that involves Izuku Midoriya, prince of Yuuei, marrying Shouto Todoroki, the heir to Endeavor’s throne.     The truth was, if All Might had asked him that a week ago, there would have only been one possible answer to that question. All Might had gone to UA, UA was the best, so Izuku was going to go there too, if he could. But things were a little different, now that he was going to receive All Might’s Quirk.

    “No,” he said, decisively.

    All Might looked caught off guard, which was a very rare expression on him. “No?” he echoed, like he couldn’t believe it.

    A laugh bubbled out of Izuku’s throat. He honestly couldn’t believe it either. “No,” he repeated.

No one in the village had red hair, though it was said to emerge every other generation or so. Their village was truly the most favored of the Sun God, for their offerings were the most celebrated, the most lauded. And their tributes returned from the temple every year, which couldn’t be said for other villages.
    When he turned twenty, Kirishima won the privilege of tribute, chosen for his sturdiness and unflappable spirit. The villagers wouldn’t go so far as to call him “the sun” – or risk godly vengeance – but a day never went by that he wasn’t helping someone bring in crops from the fields or carry water home from the nearby spring. If he frowned, only his parents witnessed it, because the villagers only received his blinding smile when he passed through the market. He was the ideal choice to bring the village offering for the year, for how could the Sun God resist that ready smile and shining red eyes.

    Flashes of sunshine filled smiles and mischievous emerald green eyes followed by a laugh that filled every hollow crevice of Shouto’s entire soul and the sound of guitar strings being strummed filled his mind, his heart fluttering just a bit.

    “Yeah,” he said, stomach filled with butterflies. “I’m down for it.”
